If they were to do a film on this setting, I could just visualise an opening shot in the present or quite possibly the present of a traveller in a distant land seeing a statue of a man or woman of immense stature. Over time, all that remained of the statue is two trunk-less legs and a shattered visage being constantly eroded by the desert sands.

Nothing besides remains, around the decay of that colossal wreck the lone and level sands stretch far away.

What follows could be the the following:
    • Cut to main protagonist riding a speeder far away from these ruins
    • If the civilisation is in the High Republic era and the sequence is in the future, have there be a sequence where the statue and the palace that surrounded it reconstituted itself from the sand
    • A sequence like in Prometheus or Lovecraftian stories like Mountains of Madness where archaeologists are exploring nearby ruins- good way to get some exposition and give the setting depth
Yeah, I know I'm riffing off Shelly's Ozymandias but it is one of my favourite poems. For that is the binding force of all the Star Wars films, not the Force, not the Empire or Republic in their various iterations but sand.

Do you have any ideas on how you envisage the opening of a film in this era?

It does not have to be like Clark Ashton Smith or Gene Wolfe, it can be anything. Think of a something you like that is not Star Wars. A scene of a film. A favourite novel. Even if it is just an inchoate idea of what may look cool.
