The Rise of Skywalker will be different from its sequel trilogy predecessors, in that it will heavily feature the trio of Rey, Finn, and Poe being together on these adventures. Many fans have compared the three to Luke, Han, and Leia, with the criticism that our new trio haven't spent much time together. Well Oscar Isaac assures fans that J.J. Abrams has rectified that in a big way.

In addition to the photo of Poe Dameron doing something I thought he'd have done a long time ago, fly the Falcon, Entertainment Weekly has released a video of Oscar Isaac talking about the dynamic between our heroes and the state of the Resistance heading into the film.

If Entertainment Weekly's new way of distributing their Star Wars content is any indication, more photos, clips, and bits will be released little by little this week, so we'll keep you posted as more arrive.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker opens in the United States on December 19.

Are we sure the trio isn't Poe, Finn, and Chewie? Just wondering, because...picture.

If you watch the video, Oscar is talking about Poe, Finn, Rey.

I just read the story where J.J. says the stakes are "all or nothing" and I REALLY really hope this film blows us away. I would love nothing more than for this film to be accepted by the fans as completely as The Mandalorian has been. I mean, right now the show is at 94% on Rotten Tomatoes as far as the audience goes. That's amazingly high. I doubt it will get that high a score from the fans, but heck, an 86, the score Rogue One currently has would be awesome. Come on J.J. stick this landing!

Think we have to take the audience score with a grain of salt. 1. It is audience score which has been manipulated in the past for films and the screening of voters is vastly different now then just 2 years ago. 2. only ~1200 votes so far.

First, no doubt it is early days. Two episodes in. Certainly a TON of time for audiences to change their mind. But some of the most vociferous critics on youtube (I looked at what Jeremy over at Geeks and Gamers as well as Thor Skywalker have said) shows that, at least these two critics, one of whom is a little more angry with TLJ than the other, are totally loving the new show. Again, there is still time to change their minds, but I have students coming up to me excited about the show, and that's a good thing.

Second, I checked RT. The Force Awakens has 231k votes and fan rating is 86%. Pretty darn good. The Last Jedi has 212k votes and an audience rating of 44%. I don't see how that is evidence of manipulation. I'd expect TLJ to have say, 350k votes if there was maniuplation, not what 10% fewer votes than TFA???

Either way, my point stands. Take a stroll around The Mandalorian forum. Pretty hard to find anyone upset by it. Online there are a few negative reviews. I would expect that. Not everyone is gonna like everything. But I am still hopeful that JJ can deliver a film that will get an audience score in the 80s I'm not SURE he will, and part of me is worried that he won't, but darn it man I really want this to be a home run.
