GAME Overrated, Underrated, Less, and More Characters

For me the most overrated character in SW history is Boba Fett.


Fett was just another dork that did basicaly nothing and fans tend to revere him as a demi-god.

I think my underrated character must be Amanaman.


Just thinking that Amanaman was a bounty hunter employed by Jabba makes me ask myself so many questions. How can this nude alien guy who aparently uses no tech keep up with the likes of Bossk, Zuckuss or IG88? How did he hunt? Did he at least know how to drive a spaceship cause you're no good as a bounty hunter if you are just limited to one planet and that planet being Tatooine makes it even worst. Having all these things against him makes me think he must be one heck of a hunter!

And finally, I know it is way to early to count her out but I have to put PZ-4CO in the Needs More category since I know from experience that cool looking droids in SW hardly get any exposure.

I think PZ-4CO looks so cool and she reminds me a lot of the animated CWs Durge. I would love to know more about her and of the species who made her but saddly I just know that PZ is going to be another great looking droid that will follow the likes of FX-7, IG88 and 4LOM into obscurity. Droids are an awesome part of the SW universe but I really do think that there are tons of droids other than protocol droids and astromechs that could benefit from some decent exposure.

 

I'm going to preface this by saying that I did not get into the old EU aside from the old republic. All my knowledge of modern Star Wars is from the new canon, which I'm still not done catching up with.

Original Trilogy:

Overrated: Boba Fett
I get that he's cool looking and he's the clone/son of the original clone troopers but he's just not that interesting. All he does is get Han Solo to Jabba and then die. Yet, for some reason, everyone loves him.

Underrated: I'm not sure for this one. Owen and Beru? I like the OP's reasoning behind this. I don't have anyone else so I'll just go with it.

Needs more... Mon Mothma and The Emperor. After reading Lost Stars and part of Aftermath I would have loved to gotten to know Mon Mothma a bit more in the movies. Her importance is staggering and she has a neat, albeit slightly idealistic view of the world. We only saw the emperor in a few short moments in ESB and RotJ. Although we have his backstory in the PT it would have been nice to see more of what he's become in the movies.

Could have used less... Random Pilots. I get that the resistance is huge and you're not going to know everyone but the deaths of some of the characters, particularly in RotJ's big space fight, would have been more emotional had we known who some of these characters were. When Biggs died in Ep IV we felt for Luke because that was one of his friends on Tattooine. I felt nothing like that in RotJ. Those pilots in the cockpits could have been cut and no one would be the wiser.

Prequel Trilogy:

Overrated: Count Dooku, Darth Maul, and Greivous. I blame this on bad storytelling. Only one villain was necessary through the films yet we had three half-finished -- or in Maul's case non-existant -- characters for Anakin and Obi-wan to take care of. I know Maul comes back in TCW but it's forced (no pun intended). Dooku would have been great if his story turned out like this: His goal is to get Anakin. Instead he kills Qui-Gon, loses but doesn't die to Obi-wan, tries to get Anakin on his side in Ep II, fails, and then tries again in Ep III but dies. Then there's Greivous who was fine in TCW but made no sense in the movie.

Underrated: All the other Jedi that get fleshed out in TCW. Seriously there were so many awesome Jedi that could have been touched on throughout the entire prequel series but instead we get characters who get named on toy boxes or in TCW series. Knowing who those Jedi were before the battle of Geonosis would have made the whole thing fun.

Needs more: Bail Organa and Qui-Gon. Bail so important in TCW and he's Leia's adopted father. Getting to know him and Alderaan a little better would have been bittersweet. Qui-Gon could have been redeemed by having him appear as a force ghost to help Obi-wan and Anakin and been the mentor figure of the PT.

Could have used less: Jar Jar. I'm sure this will be the most popular answer.

PREQUELS

Overrated: Qui-Gon - Liam Neeson puts me to sleep and it's no help that he was in the most boring of the films already.

Underrated: Waitress Droid- She slings coffee all day to aliens at the diner and gets crap for tips! (it's early I cant think of anyone lol)

Needs More: Owen Lars- I'm telling you, Owen Lars is such an untouched character with SO much damn potential for great storytelling.
He is a man from simple means who is suddenly thrust into a world he can't even imagine with a Jedi half brother and
is given the responsibility of raising his nephew in secrecy. There are adventures to be told here that we just aren't
hearing about.

Could have used less: CGI yoda. CGI yoda is NOT yoda. Yoda is that amazing Muppet we all know and love that scampers around Dagoba.
I cringe whenever I see him and think it was a poor decision on the creative teams part to use two completely different
techniques to portray him.


ORIGINAL TRILOGY

Overrated: Boba Fett- I just don't get it and I don't think I ever will. There are far more interesting background characters, none of whom have
reached the popularity of Boba Fett. I don't knock anyone who likes him, but I just don't get it. He stands there and
then gets eaten by the Sarlac. Must be the helmet?

Underrated: Owen and Beru: We raised the hope for the galaxy and all we got were these lousy charred bones. I like to think that the bodies are
those of Storm troopers that died in the attack and that Owen and Beru escaped and are in hiding.

Needs More: Biggs Darklighter: The man , the mystique, the mustache! I hate how they decided to take out the scenes featuring Biggs and the
rest of Lukes pals. I think that Biggs could have been a great character, being the best bud of Luke, and his death would have been
far more sad and meaningful had he had more scenes with Luke. Scenes of them paling around and talking about home and old times
would have been nice.

Needs Less: Lando: My friends don't like you....I DON'T LIKE YOU EITHER! such a traitor. Even steals his vest.

 

Overrated : Lando Calrissian. Brings not much to the story and is a traitor.

Underrated : R2D2 : The real hero of Star Wars, he is in every victory of the Republic and the resistance.

PT:
Overrated: Mace Windu. I like Samuel L Jackson, but he didn't fit as a Jedi to me and he got his ass kicked a lot!
Underrated: The rest of the Jedi!!!! I mean this was the chance to show how the many Jedi there were and a chance to meet some of the cooler ones.....we didn't get this at all!
Needs More: Story/character development!!!! I know this isn't a character, but it would of helped the ones we got if there was more care taken in developing the characters properly

OT:
Overrated: Lando. IMO it was pretty obvious that he was going to turn traitor! And then all of a sudden Leia and co were like, sure lets go off together, you haven't showed us any reason to think you won't be trustworthy
Underrated: Admiral Ackbar...he was more than just a famous Meme
Needs More: Storm Troopers with aim. There is even lines where characters said "that blaster precision can only be done by Imperial Storm troopers" - Obi Wan

TFA:

Overrated: BB-8 - we already have a badass droid we can't understand in R2.....BB-8 is cool but too much of the marketing and promos feature BB-8!
Underrated: Poe. Don't see too much of him
Needs More: Luke, Snoke and Maz.......I think we will get enough of Maz in the movie.....not to sure we will get much from the other 2!
