I saw it for the forth time this weekend (1 x Real D 3D, 2 x 2D, 1 x IMAX 3D). The second time was the best, but even this most recent time I was so into it that I refused to get up for a bathroom break (poor kidneys).

I'll probably go again next weekend, and then take a little break. I'm guessing I'll see it in theaters a minimum of 7 times, maybe more if it sticks around the discount theaters and the Blu Ray gets delayed until summer.

I haven't been able to re-watch a movie with this frequency since I was kid. It may not be possible for any movie to make me feel the same way I did watching the OT back in the day, but this movie has come closer than I ever dreamt it could.

I'll tell you this, as much as the movie still thoroughly entertains me, I'm starting to get really tired of the Batman v Superman, Civil War and Kung Fu Panda 3 trailers. For future viewing I'm going to start getting to the theater about 10 minutes after the scheduled start time.

You are absolutely right about those trailers! And are you seeing the Disney one with the sloths in the DMV? Ugh.

I've seen it five times so far, planning on a sixth this week. Maybe I'll finally give 3D a shot.

I watched it 3 times beginning to end. Now I watch certain parts over and over again trying to find the meaning.

I'm very glad you've had that experience. You are right though, ANH on the big screen in '77 was a 'once in a lifetime'. I've seen many great and wonderful films in the last 45 years, but none has ever been so clearly groundbreaking. I came out of the theater breathlessly knowing that films of this genre at least, were forever changed. I was changed too. :)
Watching the world fall head over heels in love with this simple story and it's characters to the point of cultural phenomenon was stunning and unrepeatable. I was cautiously hopeful for TFA and it's new characters. Would they instantly resonate as strongly as the classics? For me they certainly did, felt like part of the family, and even added some terrific new dimensions as well. In love again and very invested in where this trilogy goes from here.

I absolutely hear you on the previews, but will tough it out a few more times. I don't dare come in later than 30 minutes prior in order to get a decent seat. :)

I hate this movie, it's so derivative(I should know, I've seen it 50 times).

Last night, it was my 7th time. My family is getting a bit annoyed at how many times I have seen it, or going to see it.

My heart says 8 or 10 times, but my wallet said "Only two!"

Once in RealD 3D, and the second time in standard 2D, which I enjoyed much more. The next time will be in 2D as well.

8th time next tuesday. IMAX is cheap in my country! I don't do real 3D, I get mirror imaging and ambient lighting on the screen. It annoys me. I did two times 2D, one time real 3D and five times IMAX.

I remember that when the prequels were in cinema, I usually went three times. The first time I took the movie for what it was. The second time I watched for detail. The third time I usually decided I shouldn't watch any more of it.

The Force Awakens on the other hand pulls me back to the cinema everytime. I love it and even miss it the day after. That movie has narrative substance and great depth. Its intimate. I like it. I don't know how many more times I will see it, probably depends how long it will screen. :p

will go this afternoon or tomorrow ~ depending on whether i can get it together this morning. i go every week. probably will continue to do so until they stop showing it at the matinee.

haven't watched a movie this stubbornly in the theatre since the early 90s. last film that even came close was The Dark Knight Rises, which i think i saw 5x.

    yikes.
