He seems to be the first newcomer to have a non-SW movie be released so far...

Well deserved he has a great on screen presence and range. Daisy has a role in a hamlet movie next to Naomi Watts, not to shabby either.

I loved the first one...severly underrated! Idris Elba was the boss in that movie.

Hoping that the other lead comes back too - the guy from Tron Legacy. (which also needs a damn sequel!)

Good for Boyega - he will do well.

Because I don't think he was able to stretch out his talents with TFA so hopefully this new director can be able to stretch it for John.

He was great I don't know what you mean all the new characters were well received, enough to make them instantly likeable and focus VIII more on those characters. I don't know what you are expecting.

Well, in trying to stay on topic when I say this, but some of the scenes made me feel like I was watching A Disney Chanel movie

Not to many newcomers could have done this in a Star Wars movie with such a nitpicky fanbase.

Don't get me wrnog, so am I but my point was that I'm hoping he can have more of a range as an actor this time around.

I just completly disagree. He has more then enough range, the story of Pacific Rim and Star Wars is not Shawshank redemption, get real. It will be ok. We got it you hate Disney and TFA for other reasons but that is still not the topic.

Well first of all I never have said I outright hate Disney...but yeah, hopefully John does well with what he will have to work with.

    What's the matter Rieekan?

"You got a boyfriend, cute boyfriend?"

    *droid thumbs up*

You can like TFA while still admitting some of the cheese. I loved it but it's a solid 8/10 or 8.5/10 for me. The underdeveloped parts of the backstory and the cheesy acting in a few spots keeps it from being a perfect film. Boyega was great, but Astromech is right - hopefully he can do more with a different director. (which is why I think he'll be awesome in EP8 also...)

    "Hey Maz!" (lamest line ever)

"No, it was Snoke. He seduced our son to the darkside." (2nd lamest line ever)

"So we blow it up! There's always a way to do that..." (3rd lamest line ever. Laziest line ever.)

"This was the deathstar major. THIS...is starkiller base." (2nd laziest line ever)

    :D:D:D

The point is that a bit of cheese is was and will always be part of star wars and Tfa had to fit in to that, nothing more nothing less if you want to find something you will, in every movie. Now could we please go back to topic. Yeah Pacific Rim will also have some cheese.

Sorry, in my opinion, the first big mistake of his career. Just my opinion.

I liked the first film, but admittedly was lukewarm over prospects of a sequel...until today. John's casting news definitely has me more intrigued. Congrats to him for both landing the role and co-producing the film too. Happy for him!

I hope this starts a trend with John Boyega being typecasted as the main lead of sci-fi franchises.

    Alien Universe movie next, y/y?

I alos hope the old cast comes back. I loved the first movie, period.
