    Well if anything, Rian Johnson has gone outside the box for Ep.8 by giving us.... PAPER!

    All kidding aside, the video makes some descent points and observations.

    Kenobi managed to get paper to write his Journals. Rey also demonstrated the act of writing by marking notches into metal. Weird.

    The books could be a vision or they've been at this First Jedi Temple since the beginning. It'd be interesting to know which years the majority of the galaxy went paperless, as it could be that some primative/unknown region worlds still do use paper.

    Also Leia received a warning written on paper in Bloodlinesbefor an attack. She took this warning seriously because it was written down some thing that is very uncommon. Iam guessing these are books/documents that Luke has been roame the galaxy trying to find. So some could be from his Jedi academy & some from his travels afterward.

    Clearly the SW universe is a developmental anomaly... they've got inter galactic travel nailed, but break out the paper when something needs to be written down as they haven't sorted email or Twitter :D

    Since all Star Wars content is now in the same continuity, paper clearly exists. As mentioned by the previous posters, Kenobi wrote a journal Luke found in his hut and Leia was warned by the writing on the napkin in Bloodline.

    However, he is correct that we never saw books in the movies and he makes some good points about Star Wars short-term memory.

    I laughed as soon as I read the title because I immediately thought about the almost absolute absence of paper in this Franchise. It's funny how that's often a common characteristic thrust into Sci Fi franchises; lack of paper. Not just Star Wars but others as well, there is very little paper

    Well, there's a first for everything.
    We got toilets in Rebels earlier this year, another first for Star Wars. 10 pts to whoever manages to sneak a Keurig into a movie of book next.

    I'm gonna be so mad if this paper isn't played out exactly as my narrow conception of paper wants it to be.

    A thing to add about my opinion about this whole paper hung is that paper sort of "dates" Star Wars because Star Wars is supposed to be something special...it's hard to explain my thought about it but I forgot where but GL said something about why he didn't put paper in Star Wars too

    this many posts and no one has mentioned that paper has long existed in Star Wars;
    it's just not called paper--it's flimsiplast (flimsi for short).
    that's it: turn in your geek cards, immediately.
