Parallels of Luke & Rey!

Like it or not there are too many similarities between Luke and Rey for both of them to parallel each other of ANH and TFA, so I shall list them with both text and visuals.

1. Kathleen Kennedy.

Has said this. "The Saga films focus on the Skywalker family saga. The stories follow a linear narrative that connects to the previous six films. The Force Awakens follows Return of the Jedi and continues that generational story."

And yes, I understand that Kylo Ren is technically a Skywalker, but he’s Kylo Ren or Ben Solo, not Ben Skywalker. If Disney plans on continuing the Star Wars saga past the sequel trilogy (and they’d be stupid not to), then they need a new Skywalker.

2.The Droids.

Both Luke and Rey come in contact with droids and which starts them on the hero's journey. Each droid also have a quest item inside them. A.R2D2 has plans of the Deathstar B.Has a map piece towards finding Luke.
In the end both droids become the hero's sidekick.

3.Luke & Rey's outfits.

Even they're clothes have similarities that match up for hints.

4.The Lightsaber.

This scene parallels Luke forcegrabing the lightsaber in the Wompa cave from ESB.

In Maz Kanata's castle basement the Lightsaber calls to her. Why would Anakin's/Luke's lightsaber call out to a none Skywalker if she wasn't Luke's daughter?

5.Rey's Staff and Luke's Long gun.

In TFA we see Rey use her staff to fend off thugs, while in ANH we see Luke use his long gun as a staff to fend off a sand person attacker.

6.Pilots.


Both Rey and Luke have great skills in piloting weather its a speeder or a ship. Also both speeders look mighty similar.

Final thoughts...
One thing to note is that Episode VII has purposely kept Rey's last name as a secret. This implies that she must be related to some character we already know. If Rey had a complete random origin, then why waste the time to build up this mystery around her origin, and spend marketing money to market "Rey", instead of "Rey [random last name]"? I suppose they could be making a mystery just for the sake of mystery, but this seems like it would just be a setup for future backlash from fans. Revealing that Rey isn't related to anyone we know wouldn't be very interesting. Meanwhile, keeping it a secret that Rey is a Skywalker allows fans to speculate until Episode VIII comes out.

 

7.The Falcon
Both Rey and Luke are offered jobs to work with Han and Chewie with them onboard the Falcon.

 

8.A desert planet.
Just like Luke, Rey is a “nobody” from a backwater desert planet, largely forgotten by the rest of the galaxy.
