This is very sad. I got to meet Peter at a Dallas convention around 2004 I think, and he was very nice. My aunt even worked for the company that did his taxes, when he lived in Granbury. God Bless Peter's family, and all those who still love him.

Good Bye Father, your son you passed the torch to, is in the place.
He will continue what you started.

    You'll see that from above.
Please give Carrie, and Kenny, and Peter Cushing, and Sir Alec, and so numerous other ones, a kiss from below.

Such sad news. Even though I never met him, his passion for the GFFA was obvious from documentaries, social media, fan conventions. He seemed a passionate, but very down to earth gentleman.
A sad day for SW, but we must be happy that he made what could've been a laughable character, a real hero - someone everyone wants to hug.

RIP to the Greatest Co-Pilot in the Galaxy

    Always sad when that happens.

I remember reading the book I am C3PO by Anthony Daniels and he describes how he reacted when one of the designers of his costume died (I cannot recall her name but he did mention that she worked with Stanley Kubrick when designing the costumes and props of his adaptation of 2001 Space Odyssey), the host he worked with while doing his audio adaptation of Star Wars and of course Carrie Fisher.

This book and others like it bring home the fact that these figures we venerate and deify are people. People of disparate backgrounds, Anthony Daniels having worked in theatre and Peter having previously acted in film, drawn together by a collective endeavour that would have a lasting cultural impact for decades. People who worked together, laughed together and so many other things. In some days, spending more time on location than at home/rest.

It must be hard for people in the old guard who have build up relationships with people like Carrie, Kenny, Peter Cushing, Sir Alec Guinness and knew them intimately. There must still be times when family members and friends have something to say only to turn around and realise that he is no longer there.

Although the mythos of Star Wars will continue, hopefully long into the future, it will never be the same. My father has a key axiom: the body may die but we live on in the hearts of the ones we love.
