OFFICIAL NEWS Phasma will live to Episode VIII

Well, this is good news, I think.

I honestly thought she would die, but this is good news.

 

This makes me incredibly happy. My biggest worry about Phasma was that they were going to drop her after one film. I'm glad to see she's sticking around!

 

What if they drop Snoke ?

 

I'm predicting Kylo Ren will make it through all 3 movies while Phasma and Snoke survive until Episode IX with lonely Hux dying in TFA, poor Domhnall Gleeson

 

What if Hux kills himself from shame, fearing the wrath of Snoke ?

 

I guess it's possible, but only in the most technical of senses. Everything we've heard about Snoke so far indicates that he's gonna be a major player throughout the trilogy. No, I think Snoke'll be safe... Hux on the other hand.

...or he goes into hiding or comes crawling to The Resistance thinking Finn could protect him but he's promptly jailed and tried for his crimes . He kind of becomes like that British Officer who joins the pirates in POTC and is secretly in love with Elizabeth .

 

Phasma was utterly wasted but i really did not like how this character was written and the later scenes she was in.

 

But Harrison Ford is back too?

 

No, unless he is FS like Snoke.

 

This article says he's coming back for VIII. Maybe it's just sloppy reporting.

Down? I mean, he's a badass so he COULD come back but I doubt it.

 

I know about it of course so that's why I thought this was maybe confirmation of another force vision.

I'm in semi-agreement with you. Phasma really isn't menacing or important to this film.
I do hope that she gets better in VIII.

 

I hope she returns and I hope she takes off her helmet.

 

The earliest rumours described Phasma as a "rogue stormtrooper". Maybe she will have to go on the run so that her involvement in bringing down the shields won't be revealed (or maybe that's exactly the reason she runs)?

That said, I think that JJ & co. should have kept the lightsabre she had (IIRC) in some of the concept art. Instead of "TR-8R" beating Finn with the electro-tonfa (?) Phasma could have had a proper lightsabre duel with him, which would also given her something meaningful to do. Would it be too much to hope for that she would wield a lightsabre in the sequels?

Of course, the two ideas above could be combined by having her join the Knights of Ren because reasons, which would also be a nice excuse for some exposition as to what they actually are.
