well if Serkis is doing the whole movie and every mocap character it wouldnt be a waste to have one character with cyborg parts. Were pretty sure the cyborg is happening anyway. I think if the story calls for it, the imaginarium would do whatever Disney wanted them to do.

    I think there's a chance he's playing multiple roles.

If Pip was a Jedi it might look something like this.

what with all the flipping around he does i'm surprised no one has seen the obvious: Pip is Yoda's son!! ;)

seriously though, the fact that he was on set during a shoot and is now doing mo cap work makes sense; often these actors stand in and act alongside their fellows, leaving the mo cap and special effects for post production.

personally, based on the battle scene rumor that he was meant to be in, i'm betting he's either a villain or a friend of our hero's. either way, a supporting character and not a Solo or a Skywalker.

and probably definitely an alien/cyborg of some sort. you don't need mo cap to make a human Jedi/Sith look fancy ;)

That's what I'm thinking too. He may be an actual human character but also a motion capture model for other very minor characters.

I got the impression that it's actually Boyega's character that's hiding out in the downed AT-AT after discovering something dangerous and leaving the Imperial Guards (or whatever it is that he and Christie are doing), not that Ridley's character was living there. So from that perspective, there's still the possibility that Ridley is a Skywalker or a Solo.

Again (and perhaps this is just my interpretation of the details), I thought von Sydow was a cyborg ex-Jedi or something like that who explains to Ridley and Boyega what the lightsaber is and who it belonged to?

Are you getting this from the MSW report? Because they described a picture of Daisy's character sitting on top of the AT-AT staring at the horizon, and I don't think they mentioned Boyega's character being featured in the same artwork as the AT-AT.

Ya I was under the impression that most people agree the AT-AT house is for Ridley. I think Boyega's fleeing from the Empire is going to happen in the movie, he won't have time to get a hideout

Actually, sorry, my bad - I guess I was reading the piece and thought to myself that Boyega hiding out in an old abandoned AT-AT wreck was far better an idea that Ridley living there. Hold my hands up to that one. :p

    EDIT: Here's the source.

Yes, this Dawson guy is working on the movie HUD. And he is doing some mo-caps at the Imaginarium.

I guess they met with Pip accidentally. I don't think Pip is involved with HUD.

There was an interview around here posted in the last few days that seems to dispute that... something to the effect that we would be seeing them rather prominently...

That fits in more with my original idea before this mo-cap stuff, I hope it's true

His mo-cap stuff may be for another project, non-Star Wars-related.

Yup... entirely possible that this guy goes to that studio at this time and its... just... coincidental...

OK, so if Andersen was actually at the Imaginarium for mo-cap work for SW7, then would anyone like to hazard a guess at what that is on the screen behind them in the second photo?

To my mind, the bright blue part of the image is a wireframe character model leaping with its arms behind and above it. If that's so, a) what kind of race is the character, and b) what is that in the image behind the character? Interesting....

To be honest I thought it was a droid blowing out steam or an electric pulse. Nice eye Raze.

Well, I studied computer games design at uni, so I'm used to seeing wireframe models. :D

Actually, if you look at this pic, you'll see they software that they're using for the mo-cap translation to animation is Maya.
