Just for fun, guys. Go easy on me if you disagree because I'm not even certain where Disney will go with this BUT....

Would it not make sense that Plagueis being 'So powerful and so wise' that he saw the flaw in the Sith rule of two before Palpatine attempted to destroy him? Thus learning how to cheat death(which he obviously didn't train Palpatine this power), create life with medi-chlorians and watch as his force child, Anakin Skywalker, destroys the Republic, the Jedi order and the Sith!

Now that Palpatine is no more.. Vader is no more and the Jedi are scattered what better time to renounce his Sith name of Darth Plagueis and go by his original name of Snoke!? We already have seen this with Darth Maul no longer being Sith because of the same sort of flaw.

Snoke is not Sith because he outsmarted the Sith, the Jedi and the galaxy using his powers to manipulate the remaining Sith to do the dirty work so he could take over. :)

it's not the worst idea that i've seen with the dreaded 'DP' mentioned.

It seems to me that if there was going to be a return of DP, then you would want it to be as clear as possible to the audience... and hence a name change would muddy that.

I personally think that we're gonna see that Snoke is something new.. but very very old, from the unknown regions of the galaxy.
I still think that the 'Ancient Fear' title we heard rumors about was true, and was originally gonna be used as an ST episode title.

Yeah, most likely considering how Disney has made up a dozen different planets now that were never on the galaxy chart I grew up with ... Sort of a bummer. As long as Snoke is original, interesting and intelligent then I'm okay with it. .. Just thought it would be cool that he were Plaqueis and literally created the prophecy purposely to get rid of the Sith and Jedi.

To sum it up, Plagueis(Snoke), seeing the flaws of the Sith purposely create the prophecy to destroy the Sith and with the Jedi Order and Republic. How epic of a villain would he be if that were his plan all along?? :)

I think your theory can work, but Snoke most likely isn't Plagueis. But if Disney really wanted, I think they could create a backstory where Plagueis created Anakin.

    From non-canon:
    • Plagueis had a silent business partnership existing with Gardulla the Hutt on Tatooine. He was instrumental in setting up Gardulla's slavery operations and podracing events.
    • Plagueis bought slaves from Gardulla to use as test subjects for his midichlorian experiments. (We know Shmi Skywalker originally was a slave owned by Gardulla).
    • Plagueis received a vision of young Anakin as Darth Vader shortly before he was killed. Not long after, Sidious meets Anakin for the first time and plans on making him his new Sith apprentice with Plagueis now gone. Plagueis mentions how Anakin might be his undoing, the Force striking back, but when he receives the vision of Vader, Plagueis never mentions whether he wanted young Anakin killed or wanted him as his apprentice. The novel holds back on Plagueis's true thoughts on Anakin. If Plagueis wanted Anakin as an apprentice, the easiest way would be for him to "cheat death", hide in the shadows and allow Sidious to train Anakin to become the Jedi Killer.
Some excerpts from EU Plagueis material:

    James Luceno's Darth Plagueis novel

"Damask knew, too, that the ancient Sith had once had an outpost on Tatooine, but he kept that to himself."

“What are you offering in return for our investment?”
A light came into the Hutt’s dark, oblique eyes. “A Podrace course that will make those on Malastare and on your own Muunilinst seem like amateur runs. In addition, the renaissance of an annual Podrace event that will bring tens of thousands of gamblers to Tatooine and fill my coffers to overflowing.” She paused, then added: “And I’m willing to take you on as a partner.”
    “A silent partner,” Damask amended.

“Why is it that we never see humans competing in the races?” he asked Teem after a moment.
The Gran waved his six-fingered hand in dismissal. “They haven’t the talent for it. The favorite to win today is the Dug at the controls of the blue racer.”
Seated alongside Plagueis, Larsh Hill leaned forward to address Pax Teem. “Perhaps Gardulla will be able to entice humans to pilot Podracers in the course she is refurbishing on Tatooine.”

Jabba reacted in annoyance. “...I know you were instrumental thirty years ago in giving Gardulla the run of Tatooine, as a base for her slavery operations and Podracing events..."

Jabba appraised him. “I happen to know that Gardulla hasn’t been able to make good on the loans you extended. What she earns from events like the Boonta Eve Classic, she loses to gamblers.”
“That much is true,” Plagueis said. “But what of it?”
“I want you to stop funding her, so I can starve her out.”
Plagueis shrugged. “Your information is incomplete, Jabba. I haven’t funded her enterprises in a decade.”

Plagueis fell back a step, his thoughts reeling.
There was still a chance that the Council would decide that Anakin was too old to be trained as a Jedi. That way, assuming he was returned to Tatooine …
But if not … If Qui-Gon managed to sway the Council Masters, and they reneged on their own dictates …
Plagueis ran a hand over his forehead. Are we undone? he thought. Have you undone us?

Qui-Gon Jinn, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and the boy had arrived at the platform in a Jedi ship; Amidala, her handmaidens and guards, and a loose-limbed Gungan in an open-topped hemispherical air taxi. Just then the latter group was ascending the starship’s boarding ramp, but Qui-Gon and the round-faced desert urchin had stopped short of the ship to speak about something.
What? Plagueis asked himself. What topic has summoned such an earnest look to Qui-Gon’s face, and such confused urgency in the boy?
Lifting his face from the macrobinoculars, he stretched out with the Force and fell victim to an assault of perplexing images: ferocious battles in deep space; the clashing of lightsabers; partitions of radiant light; a black-helmeted cyborg rising from a table … By the time his gaze had returned to the platform, Qui-Gon and the boy had disappeared.
Trying desperately to make some sense of the images granted him by the Force, he stood motionless, watching the starship lift from the platform and climb into the night.
He fought to repress the truth.
The boy would change the course of history.
    Unless …
Maul had to kill Qui-Gon, to keep the boy from being trained.
Qui-Gon was the key to everything.

“Word has it that he lost a fortune at the Boonta Eve Podrace,” Damask said when they were out of Treblanc’s earshot.
“The event Anakin won,” Palpatine said.
Damask stopped short in surprise, and turned to Palpatine for explanation.
    “He captured first place.”
Damask absorbed the news in brooding silence, then muttered, “The boy’s actions already echo across the stars.”

Dan Wallace's Book of Sith, (the science of creating life)

"What is the force? The Jedi say it is created by life, but I say the Force creates life."

"My ultimate goal is the secret of life - that life gives us consciousness, for without consciousness each of us is nothing. Through science, I will create new life and sustain my own. There is no reason why Darth Plagueis could not live forever."

"I began with experiments on scurriers and other small creatures. I used my will, amplified through my body's own midi-chlorians, to override the lesser concentrated midi-chlorian voices in the test subjects. This proved more challenging than I predicted. Because midi-chlorians are linked by a universal mind, the ones in my own cells seemed to resist this imposition on their fellows. But eventually I succeeded, first with small creatures, then with slaves purchased from the Hutts. I forced the midi-chlorians to override their natural life cycles."

"But I believe that by using this method I can trick the midi-chlorians into creating a zygote. Then it would simply be a matter of growing the subject under normal biological conditions. Such a subject could, of course, takes years to hit the developmental milestones of a typical humanoid, but he could have a midi-chlorian count as high as 20,000 per cell. That is more than any Jedi or Sith in recorded history. Although entirely theoretical, such an achievement is intriguing.

"So we come back to midi-chlorians. These organisms allow beings to live and provide a connection to the force. If bred in sufficient quantities, midi-chlorians can even conceive a new life form and bestow upon it powers greater than any Jedi has ever dreamed, generating a vergeance in the force."

"If I induce midi-chlorians to create such a being, my handiwork would fit such a description of their Chosen One. But he would be an agent of my will. How fitting that the misguided reliance on superstition could lead to a Sith creation that is hailed by the Jedi as a saviour."

"The fact that the Sith created their own saviour myth is predictable, but the prophecy states that a being will arise who is free from restrictions and who will make them stronger than before. These statements seem uniquely specific to the actions I am taking now. I am free from blind obedience to symbols and mysticism. I will end the traditions that have bound the SIth throughout their history."

Luke Skywalker - "I can't help feeling a chill as I read this account by Plagueis, knowing that my father was known for his high midi-chlorian count, which was supposedly even higher than Yoda's."
