A couple of days ago John Boyega Instagrammed a pic of the VII Now Filming sign at Pinewood Studios. The caption for this was "NEW Week, New Planet".
Now my question is is he talking about a New Planet for the current filming or is he talking about an entirely New Planet that we haven't seen before?
My hope is that he is talking about the latter. Personally I would like to see at least two NEW planet's in this film. How about you?

I'd love to see Han's home planet at some stage. Correlia isn't it?

So many of the planets in the original trilogy were wildernesses or unpopulated worlds in one way or another. It could be cool to see the original cast interacting in a society on planets which aren't deserts, ice fields or forests.

As I'm from Ireland I'm very interested in seeing which
planet was filmed at Skellig Michael.

Yes he is from Correlia. As I stated earlier I'd like to see someplace new and I'm sure we're going to. But unfortunately we probably will see more of the desert, ice and Forrest planet's but with different names than in the OT.
Now there was a rumor awhile back and it may have changed since but it said that we will see a planet that was mentioned but not seen. I can't remember if Correlia was mentioned or not. But others that were were Ord Mandell, Dantooine, Kessell and I'm leaving a couple out probably.

I guess that rumour could also mean a place mentioned in the prequel trilogy but not seen before? Or a well-known aliens home world. Admiral Ackbar's home world for example?

Mon Calamari was covered in a lengthy TCW story arc, so it could crop up again, given that it's been covered in a canon source, or alternatively that could be exactly why it won't be covered, because it's already been done.

I'd love to see Nar Shaddaa as featured in the cinematics of DF II: Jedi Knight - I guess a bit like Coruscant as it was seen in Star Wars: 1313. Other good places to see would be Corellia, Korriban (sorry, I still don't like Moraband - I'm sure I'll get over it eventually :p ), and some of the worlds visited in The Force Unleashed games like Raxus Prime (the junk planet), Felucia and so on. Mind you, this is a JJ movie, so there's got to be a scene in a Star Destroyer construction yard where one or more characters has to float from platform to platform, avoiding debris. :D

That's possible. I wouldn't be surprised if we saw the Jedi Temple on Corascaunt. I figure someone would go back to see if they could find something that's been hidden for years.

Yeah I think coruscant has to be seen again. If the characters were flung out to the wilderness of the outer rim in the OT then it seems fair that they'll return to the old Republics capital by the end of this new trilogy.

I think it would be cool if they went to a planet where Imperial Star Destroyers are built. Have the whole thing be like a gigantic factory. That sounds awesome to me.

I definitely think that some of the ancient, abandoned Jedi Temples from TOR and before need to be explored for holocrons, forgotten Jedi powers and weapons (without it turning into the Jedi Temple levels from DF2: Jedi Knight too much) if the ST is actually about "An Ancient Fear" that will need every single option available in order to ensure that Luke and co can win. So any planet that they happen to be on would be great, and the potential scope for what kind of environments those worlds could bring is awesome.

Yeah, but as I said in another thread, it's a JJ Abrams movie, so there would have to be people in space suits flying from point A to point B very fast, avoiding debris. It runs the risk of being too samey. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see something like that as well, I just think it might be shaky ground for the movie, that's all.

I think he just means that they're moving on to a different planet which means it could be one we've seen or an entire new one. He's just referring to the fact that new sets have been constructed.

BUT I hope it is an entirely new planet - Corellia!!!

That's not surprising coming from you. Lol. But if Ford has as big of a role as rumored It's a good possibility.

Yavin IV would be a nice throwback to ANH or Rodia, every movie revolves around a battle of some planet, Naboo, Geonosis, Coruscant, Yavin, Hoth, and Endor. Looks like this one's on a desert planet.

Could be that the film may be set in space for a longer period than we are used to. If the rumours are true that Han and Chewie are piloting a super star destroyer then they have some major firepower at their disposal. Why give them such a big gun if they wont use it. Major space battle perhaps?

Considering the many locations they've filmed at, I find it hard to believe it's going to be primarily in space, but you never know.

I'm curious about the new report about them bringing turf to the studio. A lot of speculation that it means Naboo but it's more likely that it's for adjacent shots to locations they've already filmed.

So far, we have direct confirmation that the following environments have been filmed:
    • Desert Planet (probably Tatooine) - Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates
    • Ice/Cool Planet - some unspecified location in Iceland
    • Forest Planet - Puzzlewood, England
    • Forest Planet (most likely the same planet as the above planet) - Black Park Country Park, England
    • Oceanic/Forest/Rocky Planet - Skellig Michael, Ireland
I imagine that, at this point in the production, location shooting will be utilized less as the filming shifts over to the studio. This would be supported by the presence of turf being sent to the Pinewood Studios set. Of course, within the studio, even more is possible by the use of sets and the magic of post-production. But what other worlds could we see? Could some planets from the old EU make their way back into the story? Will we actually see a planet with multiple biomes? Well, your guess is as good as mine, but let's just imagine what world's we'll see in the new movies.

Most of the planets we saw in the OT looked more or less recognizable in terms of geography.
I'd really like to see truly otherworldly planet with landscape, flora and fauna,
be it a jungle or an underwater world. And please new creative non-bipedal aliens.

Skellig Michael was selected for it unique structures and cliffs. I could see this combined with Puzzlewood to make one very interesting planet.
The desert planet seems to have a battle taking place there, and since every movie revolves around a battle on a certain planet could we be seeing the Battle of Tatooine? or is this another planet like Pasher that's mentioned in the 2014 Star Wars Sampler of Heir to the Jedi?
I wonder how many of the planets featured in The Clone Wars would they consider using in the Sequels? or would they create new ones?

    I'm calling it

    Coruscant
    Hoth
    Waterworld where Luke is stranded
    Desert planet in the opening

I bet the film ends on Hoth and that's all I'm gonna say.
