It's the only planet aside from Starkiller Base - which may or may not be Ilum bastardized by the First Order - listed in the Unknown Regions in this map.

Judging by the fact that a map is actually needed to find Luke - and that an incomplete map was useless to this end - suggests that it has to have been in the Unknown Regions, which is logically the best place to hide.

Why would the "Unknown Regions" be unknown? Distance wise, they are closer to Coruscant than the Outer Rim worlds. You would think that it would be no problem to make known what is there. We see these people seemingly moving with ease from one part of the galaxy to another in no time flat, like taking the train to the next station.

I have also been speculating that Luke might be on Rakata Prime, I mean judging from the landscape it would fit to the one found on Lehon. It might not look particularly tropical but still looks like it has vast oceans, small scattered islands and rocky outcrops. Also the map in the film seems to indicate Luke’s location to be around the inner borders of the unknown regions, just like Rakata Prime. I think it would also be a nice tie in with the now de-canonised expanded universe & perhaps would connect this new chapter of SW with the rich history of the galaxy that so many of us loved & are refusing to completely let go (at least i am)
