SPECULATION Planets In Episode VII

I would love to see Mon Cala except that featuring it in the film would require it to use a lot of CGI. And that would rustle a lot of practical-effects lovers' jimmies. (I'd be fine with CGI by the way, I'm just good at shooting people, cracking wise and pretending to know how to fight.)

 

I'd love to finally see Corellia on screen, and why not explore Yavin 4? We didn't really see that much of it in ANH anyway... And it would be great to see some more of Kashyyyk in the ST. Also, I'd like to see Mandalore and Ord Mantell

 

I got no problem with a CGI Mon Cala as a OT-sympathizer...Have some real Mon Calas in masks plus a great stage. That´s the only thing that should not need CGI at all...

 

I respect this post in that I think you're right that we don't necessarily have to see these places or planets just because they were mentioned. However, I think as long as they serve the story it would be cool to see some of them that we haven't seen before, especially Corellia since it is important as background for Solo and Wedge Antilles.

Isn't that from the parts of EU that aren't canon any more? (like, the recent reboot and now almost everything is called Legends)

Also I don't know why they even made Corellia Han's home world, he pretty much told the audience that its the place they make the Star Destroyers.

 

Well, I doubt everything that's ever been mentioned in the EU -- like the fact that Han is Corellian -- will suddenly change. Disney's announcement simply meant that certain stories, characters, plots etc... may not survive the new movies. That is to say some of what has come between Episode VI and VII will probably be written over.

 

I'm almost SURE the Ice Planet is Illum. The reports that there is an Ice Planet in the movie, and the rumors of there being a scene with the assembling of a lightsaber. They all match up. I think it'll be Boyega's lightsaber seeing that reports say Daisy will already have one in the beginning of the film.

I was too. I think I said it somewhere, but I agree with this and actually hope we see it.

Side note: as we suspect that this movie will act as "connective tissue" with the OT, and I suspect it will also with the PT through the ultimate bad guy, a scene such as this on Ilium would serve to connect The Clone Wars as well. Disney has a thing for Synergy.

 

Bal'demnic, An ocean planet with rocky tropical islands, sounds like the Skellig Michael site. Also is the place where Plaguies killed Tenebrous.

The word Bal'demnic even sounds like a name Lucas would have used. Although I also like the idea of people forming lightsabers on an ice planet, braving the freezing cold.

 

I really hope (and I think so) that no planet from the EU will appear in the Sequels. Making movies isn't about pandering to established canon, its not enough just to see like Star Destroyers, or the Millennium Falcon flying around - you have to see them doing something to care. Not to mention, the primary audience is probably not people who know exactly what "Ilum" is. I would bet a thousand dollars that the snowy mountain planet isn't Ilum.

 

Ilum is canon. It was in Clone Wars so like Moraband if they go there they go there.

It's all part of this very tight shared universe they are creating. So no need to create new worlds if canon ones fit the story as needed.

 

I mean that's your opinion, I am just saying what I really think they are gonna do. Which um just happens to also be my opinion. I'm not exactly sure how credits work on this site, but if anyone's up for it, maybe we could make a "real" bet out of if the snowy mountain planet is gonna be Ilum! :3

 

First of all, yes you may make a friendly wager with your credits, so long as you understand to keep everything civil.

Second, really, you should postpone your wager until you have some significant credits to wager.
