I like when Star Wars visits familiar places, but are there any planets that you think shouldn't be visited again (in mainline movies, but also perhaps in TV series as well)? Specifically, in entirely new events (so a gritty Hoth war movie might still work).

Some off the top of my mind:

Hoth (being remote is like 99% of its appeal)
Tatooine (already massively overused, Skywalker saga is done)
Endor (only one reason to really go back, and TROS showed no interest in using it for that)
Scarif (served its purpose, likely locked down before/destroyed now anyway)
Dagobah (should only be used for Yoda, in my opinion)
Lothal (Unless the Rebels sequel series wants to visit it for an episode or two)

Any place done for pure nostalgia and not for the benefit of the story

True, probably the right answer here.

Though if it's a brief cameo that detracts from nothing, I wouldn't necessarily mind. For instance, if a character has to have a meeting with a planet's leaders and it just happens to be Naboo, that could work. As long as it's not trying to hit you over the head with how absolutely NABOO it is.

Like, the Mustafar scene at the beginning of TROS is kind of weird in how completely under the radar it went, but at the same time it's not a bad template for how to do cameos in some instances.

    Agreed.
Tho given how important Mustafar is/was, it'd make more sense for the climax to be there than Exegol. The idea was right, not sure it was the time to use it imo.

Sounds reasonable, and I agree with most parts- only Scarif I would like to see again, I really liked the design and if the cassian series is happening, I think it would be cool If we got to see Krennic and Galen paying Scarif a visit.

    That would be cool!

Pretty much this. Not just for fanservice!

Other than that: Tatooine. I don't want to see Tatooine ever again!

Exactly. Endor in Tros was super lame. It was all right there, why didn't they use what had been set up?

Yeah, that was one case where it almost felt like the movie was anti-fan service. Endor made the most sense for that area, but it was ignored (leading some, including myself, to wonder why that was the case).

I actually think using established planets is an excellent way to help keep the Star Wars Universe feeling cohesive as we move into stories about other eras and characters. I wouldn't rule out any existing planet out of hand. That said, it's also important to recognize that discovery is a critical element of Star Wars, and repeatedly going back to the same places diminishes the sense of wonder. I say keep using familiar planets when appropriate, but give us new perspectives on them. These are planets we're talking about, but they get treated like they're the size of small European countries. Even Tatooine, which has been featured more than any other location, seemingly consists of two cities and a few outlying areas. There's got to be more to Naboo than the capital and the hidden Gungan city. Lothal and Scarif must have more than one or two populated areas - not to mention weird and interesting stuff in the non-populated areas that we haven't seen yet.

We kind of saw a new Tatooine in The Mandalorian, once again...Arvala-7.

Does anyone here knows why the copied Tatooine to create this "new planet" for the series? They have Jawas and some creatures that looks like dewbacks.

    Familiarity maybe?

They could easily have gone with Crait and set the series in towns and cities carved out of the glittering crystalline mineral deposits below the surface with the Mandalorian occasionally going to the surface to travel between townships and to other worlds. This would have created an aesthetic similar but different and would have further expanded the history of this world.

They could have taken inspiration from Appleseed Alpha and Blame!

Also, there are plenty of Westerns set in areas other than desert plains. Just look at Hostiles and The Revenant.

Tatooine. I prefer Jakku. I know that the two planets are similar but Tatooine is too much overused than Jakku.
    Corellia. Never told me much.
Anoat. I know it's only mentioned in movies but it looks like it's a very polluted planet.
    Coruscant. Overused like Tatooine.

I disagree with Scarif, I would love to see it again. And to be honest I would like a come back of Alderaan, possibly in a spin off movie set before A New Hope.

Jakku. We have the iconic Tatooine, one desert Planet is enough. I wouldn't mind another Desert Planet if it was less "samey" and more
distinguishable. Hell, just let it have, for example, purple sand or something.
