I would be really against a Boba Fett stand alone film but I would be down for him to be an aspect of the Kenobi movie. Like a revenge story line for the Jedi killing his father and then Kenobi besting him once to go back and lick his wounds.

I'm down for a Fett movie. I think it should take place between ANH and ESB, ending with a transmission from the Empire that they need his service to track down a certain ship.

I was not too thrilled with the rumored Fett film. However, if the new rumor is true, and the director of Logan is now signed on to write/direct this, and Kasdan is producing, then I'm all in. Logan is easily one of my favorite films ever. Hell yeah!

Why not tell a ronin western story that Mangold does so well with a new original characters without all the baggage?

I'm not really knowledgeable about the EU but people who are have told me this -

Boba Fett is the coolest character ever in the EU. Like so much cooler than in the movies.

I haven't read the books but I believe the people who have.

But I still don't want a Boba Fett movie. I didn't want a Han Solo movie, either. I believe a secondary character should serve a purpose in a story, and that purpose is to further the plot of the main character. So we don't need a Boba Fett movie. Or a Solo movie. Or a movie about that two header pod race announcer guy. Give us some original content, Disney.

I like Boba Fett and all but sometimes it's good to have *some* shreds of mystery. Too much was revealed about him in the prequels. I wish he always "that mysterious character". Like Fett, don't want a film about him. Granted I like Aunt Beru too, but don't need a film about her. I like getting little tidbits about characters.

Much like Han, I believe Bobba Fett could be a solid conduit to take us to places other characters wouldn't frequent in the GFFA. I'm not a huge Fett fan, but I liked him as a kid. I like his ship, his suit, but not a big fan of his PT origins. Still, done well, I think a Fett movie could work.

I didn't really want a Solo movie, and I'm not inclined to go pounding on doors for a Fett movie either, but since they made Solo, why not Fett?

The most positive thing about Fett and Solo movies is that there shouldn't be much in the way of the Force, Jedi or Sith. As much as I enjoy those stories, it would be a nice change to have a SW story without those elements.

I didn't like the idea of a Boba Fett film before, but with this writing team/director, I'm pretty stoked. I absolutely loved what he did with Logan. I'd love to see his take on a bounty hunter and the world he inhabits.

Why does there need to be a Boba Fett standalone story? We know his origins from AOTC, we saw him in The Star Wars Holiday Special, The Empire Strikes Back and finally in Return Of The Jedi.

He's not a particularly good Bounty Hunter, Boba Fett was practically given Han Solo as a frozen lump of carbonite by Darth Vader. All Boba Fett did was follow the Falcon to Bespin, where he picked up his bounty and then took him to Tatooine.

Boba Fett also lost his mysterious and tough badass persona the moment when they cast him as a little boy in AOTC. The character of Boba Fett was then forever ruined in my opinion. And the style of his (alleged) death in Return Of The Jedi was comedic and farcical.

Boba Fett is cool because he looks cool and we get the feeling he is a scarey guy. That is all mystery that we all fill in with our own imaginations.

Any film with him needs to keep that mystery of who he is. That will be tough. I hate his current film back story and I don't want to see any more back story for him.

Something that we agree on. I just never found him to be a particularly interesting character...he was just a bounty hunter that got Solo, and is an incidental character. With that being said, I did like the "backstory" of Boba and his father in the PT, and I was good with that, but a Fett standalone film...no thanks. Give me Odi-Wan or Yoda.

I'm starting to like the idea of a Boba Fett movie if it's done right. It depends on the setting or time period.

If it is between ROTS and ANH, then they should feature a young Han (Ehrenreich). Maybe a "forced buddy" film. If it's set after ROTJ (what I'm actually hoping), then it should be all about Boba (Logan style).
Another interesting idea would be a bounty hunter assemble movie set between TESB and ROTJ.

I'm going to be in a very, VERY small minority, but I didn't like Logan personally. It was a beautiful movie, and I appreciated the story it told; but how it told said story really, really bothered me on some levels. Maybe it was a "trigger" or whatever, but after one specific part, I physically could not enjoy the movie. Was The Wolverine a better movie? Not at all. But at least I feel comfortable watching that one again.

So when it comes to Star Wars and this Boba Fett movie, I'm a little torn. I'm worried that Mangold might repeat what made me hate Logan, and honestly, I don't care for Boba Fett at all. Sure his armor is cool, but it doesn't mean anything to me. Besides, we've seen his past in AOTC and TCW. That's all I needed.

And yet...the idea of a Western with Fett sounds like it can work. Like it should work. Like this was always meant to be.

BUT ALL THAT SAID, I think I'd honestly prefer a Jango Fett movie pre-AOTC by Mangold instead of wherever this one is going to be set.

Okay, that I could live with.

It's just weird that they keep saying the past is dead and we need to move on, then they just keep releasing movies of the old characters and old stories.

I think there is more room to make an interesting movie when like Rogue One is about a story and characters can be crafted to fit that story rather starting with a character that a story must be spun around especially one that also requires one to like in the case of Fett where the character the whole thing is built around must also must largely be generated out of thin air.

Bobba Fett has always been almost completely been about a cool looking outfit and a sense of mystery. A suit and a mystery small galaxy shrunk down to size by the way he is folded into the prequels. A clone of a mysterious guy in an even cooler suit.

There is nothing of conequence to flesh out. There aren't bones to build on.
There is a poor man's version of Jango's suit and maybe a couple lines of dialog that are just transactional, we know he takes assignments from Jabba, and Vader admonishing that there be no disintegrations.

Essentially, the whole push seems to be driven by nostalgia about a neat action figure rather than the desire to see a story be told.

That or a EU mindedness that hungers for every person, place, or thing to be expounded upon to the point of removing every iota of imaginative fodder and replacing it with an explanation no matter it's weight or quality.

Why do you cling so tightly to Kylo's words and a position Luke eventually refutes? The whole movie tells Ren he is wrong yet that is what you want to take away from it?
    --- Double Post Merged, Jun 23, 2018 ---
I'm a fan of Logan too and it does give a little merit just because Mangold is so heavily involved (if that is true and is going to move forward) but Bobba Fett isn't analogous to Wolverine because Wolverine is a very developed character with a ton of history, a lot of personality, and many associations we have seen him interact with.

Fett is a cool action figure.

Yeah I don't get why there needs to be one either considering that we already have seen his origin story .

If they wanna do it then do an animated series, but a stand-alone is not needed and I'm not interested.
