Last week I picked up Fantasy Flight Games Star Wars: Armada. The game features some nice miniatures, one of which is a Victory- I Class Star Destroyer that is around 5" long. It's a decent replica for it's small size, but I thought it could benefit from some extra detailing and a new paint job.

I added some "greeblies" details from the spare parts box, and re-painted it with Tamiya acrylic medium gray. After the new base color cured, I used an oil paint wash and pastel chalk to weather it and bring out the molded in detail. As a final touch, I individually applied a few hundred really tiny craft store metallic sparkles using clear varnish as an adhesive to represent the lighted windows. The sparkles reflect ambient light just enough to look like they are lit up from the inside.

    Here's the final result-

And from the same game, here's the Tantive IV detailed and re-painted like the Star Destroyer.

This ship is only 1" long-

Boba Fett was all like "Get in the carbonite yo!" and Han was all like, "Nuh Uh!" (falcon) (boba fett)

I know I've already posted the Funko Pop Boba Fett, but my girlfriend just got me this sassy Han bobble-head, and the exchange was too much to pass up :D

    Nice work!

What brand/type of paint did you use for the whitewash and weathering?

I used Citadel's Base ceramite white, celesta grey and technical imperial primer for the wash. Snow is chalk, kama was made out of fabric from an old wallet!

Here's a 12" custom figure I recently completed, and the short backstory I created for him.

He's a hypothetical TFA character I call The Endor Grave Robber. Part pirate, part bounty hunter, he's been hired by a wealthy Sith Fetishist to track down and retrieve the holy grail of all Sith collectors and fetishists- The mask and helmet of the late Lord Vader.

He's come to the Forest Moon to retrieve the items his client is obsessed with, but he won't be alone in this search. His old school improvised body armor and antiquated DLT-19 Heavy Blaster will both see use before he leaves this moon, if he leaves this moon...

I wonder if that was influenced by the Space:1999 spaceship?

There actually is a connection of sorts between the two ships.

I was reading Sculpting a Galaxy by Lorne Peterson, the head of the Star Wars model shop. He mentioned the fact that the Tantive IV was originally meant to be the Millennium Falcon. Although the original Falcon/Tantive IV design was not influenced by the Space:1999 Eagle ships, it was decided that it did indeed look too much like the Eagle, and they wanted the hero Han Solo to have a much more radical and distinctive ship.

So, they started brainstorming, and during lunch at some restaurant one of the model shop guys ordered a hamburger which came with an olive stuck to the side of it with a toothpick. The lightbulbs went on, and the burger with an olive became the inspiration for the Millennium Falcon as we now know it today.

But, they still had this huge beautifully designed spacecraft model, and they wanted it in the movie albeit in a very limited role, so they decided to make it Leia's ship in the opening shot of Episode IV, and as they say, the rest is history.
