I finished building the 1/72 Scale Revell Imperial Shuttle that I initially reviewed here-

    http://thecantina.starwars7news.com...tures-of-your-collection.59/page-3#post-34427

The kit went together well, and parts fit was excellent. The model has some neat features. It comes with landing gear as well as optional closed landing gear bay doors so you can display the ship in flight, or landed. The gear and doors are a friction fit, and are easily swapped out. The nose piece is hinged so you can open it up and see the detailed cockpit with an Imperial Officer and a Stormtrooper seated in the pilot/co-pilot seats.

The model is a bit nose heavy and likes to tip forward when in the landed configuration, so I added a couple of ounces of ballast inside the aft hull in the form of lead shot mixed with epoxy. Problem solved. The wing fold mechanism is very sturdy and the wings lock solidly in the up/down position due to an internal friction lock.

All in all, this is a great kit. It's affordable, looks great, and it's construction is well within the abilities of the novice or even a first time model builder.

    Here she is-

I am currently building a Jabba's palace diorama, but until its complete, my figures have to sit on this little stand

    upload_2015-6-6_17-24-34.png

the diorama will have a cutaway section to show my Rancor under the throne, of course.

    Love the Imperial Shuttle, @RBanks

It was always one of my favorite OT designs. Elegant, sleek, and classy. And your rendition looks great!

    Thanks!

Walmart now carries the entire 1/72 scale Revell Star Wars kit line, and the kits are very reasonably priced. They also have the larger 1/48 scale kits now. I picked up the 1/48 TIE Fighter yesterday. One of the things I like about this kit line, is that they open up the possibility of building a great looking model to people with little or no building experience. For me, they are a nice break from the thousand-part plus mega modeling projects I usually work on.

Next up on my workbench are Luke's X-Wing and Vader's TIE Advanced Fighter, both in 1/72 scale. I have a display stand from another kit that is a 14" x 14" section of the surface of the Death Star, and I'm going to mount the two ships above it in flight with clear acrylic rods. As I did with the Imperial Shuttle, I'll post pics of the kits before and after construction with a short review.

That's actually something I had considered, but I'm more of a self-employed sort of person. :D

    Thanks!

The ball is now rolling. I airbrushed a coat of light grey on the Death Star tile section this morning. I'll have some WIP pics up soon.

Getting a bunch of these from my wife's mother who kept them safe all these years. She has almost everything from the originals.

I mostly collect novels. May actually start collecting figures with the TFA line of toys! But here's my collection!

I like the Dark Horse comic series Dark Lords of the Sith and the Sith War. I think the Hugh Flemming covers are amazing. I actually like his art better than Dave Dorman.

To me "Star Wars - Legacy" & "Tales Of The Jedi" are among the best comics I've ever read. I just started on another DH comic "The Republic" which is another excellent entry!

The new MARVEL books are also good, and I've no problem with realistic approach to the drawings, but personally prefer stylized style with unique personality.

I agree. I liked in one of the more recent Marvel Star Wars comics where Vader is "negotiating" with Jabba the Hutt and pretty much tells him how it's going to be. The dialogue was great.

Here's another work-in-progress project. I'm building the 1/48 scale AMT double TIE Fighter kit with one of the TIE's finished in the OT light grey paint scheme, and one in the new TFA scheme like this ILM studio model pic and TFA trailer screenshot-

    ties-2-a.PNG

They will have lights in the form of LED engines and interior lighting, and push button flashing LED cannons. The finished models will be mounted on the kit Death Star tile display base flying in formation. The battery and electronics will be mounted under the hollow base.

I generally add quite a bit of extra detail in the form of miniature bolt heads, piping, and engraving. Here's the main components for TIE #1 with the extra detail work done and the parts shot with a coat of Tamiya white primer, and the primered display base-

    tie-parts-layout1.PNG

    ds-base.JPG

Next up will be adding the electronics, final assembly, and paint job/weathering

The TIE X-1 vs Luke's X-Wing diorama is coming along nicely as well. No pics of
that yet. They will be mounted on the same type of Death Star tile display base.

And here's an AMT 1/48 TIE Interceptor I recently built for a client-

    interceptor-final1.jpg interceptor-final2.jpg

The TIE Interceptor has always been a favorite of mine. For being such old tooling, the1/48 AMT Interceptor
is still a sharply molded kit with little if any fit or accuracy issues. Overall quality is on par with the much
    newer 1/72 scale Revell TIE.:D

I've always loved boxed figure sets.
