    Since I really have no idea when Finn wears a stormtrooper outfit, I'm going to with-hold judgement. Could be part of an Act 1,2, or 3 plan?? Would definitely make sense to have a callback to ANH....but who knows??
    And Finn was just intro-ed as a stormtrooper in the teaser...could be in the middle of the film.

    It's on what we assume to be Tatooine which by all indications looks to be an Act I planet, and all rumors so far have suggested Finn leaving the Empire to be one of the first things we see.

    Why would they introduce him as a trooper in the teaser otherwise? Same reason they put Poe in his X-Wing maybe Poe is actually just undercover as a pilot

    Why introduce him as a trooper in the teaser? Because it's a teaser? Take the Avengers trailer--- do you think Iron Man and Hulk are enemies now? Or Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver are evil? My point is that teasers tell you very little without context...and we have NONE. ZERO. ZIP. We have NO idea what's happening in Act I either.

    Or, like most pilots, he gets in his ship and an astromech gets in.. while I am sure some have their favourites, I don't think they all own the astromech they fly with...

    It's just possible that he is flying with BB8 at the beginning because he is in ONE type of x-wing, one that BB8 will fit in, and when he gets the black one, he flies with a different one... hell, he could even own BB8 and it just not be compatible (for whatever reasons) with the new ship, or the new ship requires an astromech with different capabilities...
