Poe's role in episode 8

I have to say, Poe is a great character and i hope they use him more than the fighter jock pilot unless they have other plans?

I loved his character. The way he interacted with Fin was so cool. "We're gonna do this." and "Your a good man Fin". It bonded the characters quick. My daughter asked why the "bonded" so quickly. I told her that I thought traumatic events bind people quickly, like in war.

You just like the guy and when he shot down 10 tie-fighters in 10 seconds I knew I was in love.

 

Ok guys my turn, I think he will continue his role as rogue leader & being Leia's representative to go to planets supportive to the resistance cause, he is some pilot I can tell you, I love those scenes were he saved Finn's life during his duel with the stormtrooper the camera follows his progress through the sky as well as Finn's movement on the ground & the reunion on the ground when Finn tried to return his jacket to Poe who told him to keep it.

 

I love that they kept Poe and seeing how absolutely tough Kasdan and Abrams were on eliminating every character they couldn't see an active role for going forward I'm very hopeful.

It also gives us the chance to see more of his flying. Hot DAMN! If that is not Force supported thn I don't know what is.
Which brings us back to the start: the Jedi tree: did it have an influence or not?

After seeing Poe do his thing in the air I'm more convinced than ever that he got a connection.
In the novel it's even expressedly stated that something told him to trust Finn when he freed him on the SD.

I'm not sure Poe will ever be the lightsaber weilding kind, but I can see him very much honing his instincts and his senses to the sharpest possible edge

 

Poe is going to continue to be a hot shot pilot, take more of a leadership role in the Resistance and given his new friendship with Finn and With Rey gone to train with Luke, the two of them are going to go on a mission or missions together.

 

He may advance from pilot to intelligence liason for the Resistance. Oscar Isaac's charisma would really carry Poe as a chief spy, and I would love to see a James Bond mix with Star Wars.

 

He's also not a bad shot with a blaster.

It's something along the lines of that Rey appreciated his look or something like that and that Poe was taken by her .

 

I feel like, at some point, Disney and LF realized that they struck gold with Oscar Isaac (who's a fantastic actor). He really makes the most of the limited screentime that he got, hence why Poe has become so popular. So why they did a rewrite to keep him alive.

I fully expect his role to expand moving forward, especially with Han now gone. And I expect to see more of his bromance with Finn in Episode VII (they might even be partners in the film). I also hope that he gets scenes with Rey (since if you watch the BTS stuff, or follow their social media posts, Oscar and Daisy Ridley have really good natural chemistry as well). And even all three of them interacting together at some point.

Cheers and spontaneous embraces filled the room with so much joy that no one paid any attention to who was hugging what representative of whichever species. Rey and Poe were not excluded, though their sudden, tight clinch of shared excitement led to a moment of mutual awkwardness.

“Uh, hi,” the pilot mumbled. “I’m Poe.”

She nodded slowly, searching his face and finding that she liked it. “I recognize the name. So you’re Poe. Poe Dameron, the X-wing pilot. I’m Rey.”

“I know.” He smiled back, a little more at ease. “Nice to meet you.”

It's not obvious that they will fall in love for each other for me, but I suspect that the love triangle theme could really be used... (if JJ was directing Ep.8 it would be 100% sure )
