SPECULATION Possible hint of the TFA Plot in Rebels - Empire Day

    OK, so I am going to have some fun with this...

    Just for fun I was translating some of the aurubesh in the "Empire Day" episode. Don't worry I am not giving away any spoilers for this Episode.

    So here is what I was translating:

    The translations is as follows:

    Supposedly it was encrypted, so that's why I think strategy and outer are spelled wrong... Anyway I thought it was weird that a date was given as a file number. So I googled "Star Wars 11/27/13" and I got a hit. It was the release date for a comic, Star Wars Legacy Volume 2 Issue 9. After looking it up I found this rough synopsis...

    "A lot of the "Legacy" era has been about these larger-than-life Emperors and royalty—we're taking this down to much more of a ground level. Ania Solo is somebody that is not a part of that world, and she doesn't have a personal connection to it. She may have even turned her back on it."
    "She's living in a backwater, Outer Rim system. She runs a junkyard and she doesn't have that many prospects, and that's where we start things. Our story takes off there."

    Now tell me you haven't heard that plot line from somewhere else recently.... ?Hold on though cause it gets even better! When looking up the character Ania Solo I found this:

    Again, doesn't that sound sooo familiar? Who finds Luke's lightsbaer? A smuggler/scrap dealer on a baclwater planet (Tatooine) Remember this?... see the droid?

    Why is the date 11/27/13 showing up in an episode of Rebels? Is it coincidence that the date corresponds to the release date of a Star Wars comic? Is it coincidence that the Comic Series contains a plot that is very similar to some of the rumors we have heard for Episode 7?

    Why would Dave Filoni and the crew at rebels put that date into the show? Are we being told something? Are we being duped, or are we being told we are being duped?

    Speculation please...

    Interesting how 11/27 is a thursday... a Star Wars News day, and also just enough time for John Williams, who said back on 11/05 that he would be scoring the trailer and EP VII in two weeks, which lands on 11/19, but he could start as early as 11/17 and that's enough time to make a 60 second track.

    Well my next question is who is the Imperial Outer Rim High Command...?

    Is it JJ and company and they are behind the leaks in the form of mis-information. Someone at the Rebels Crew is giving us a heads up that everything we have heard so far about episode 7 is mis-information from the "Imperial Outer Rim High Command"?

    I did say I was going to have fun with this, because I don't believe it is a coincidence.

    it looks to me like an incredibly clever mis-direct. i could be wrong mind (i've never actually been right so make ur own conclusions lol) but i dont think its a coincidence.

    Because it is a date that falls right during the time the shows were being worked on... so it could have been nothing more than a "today's date" reference? ;)

    It would be far too obvious if it was 11/27/14. Although it might just be a hint at Ridley's character, and not about when the trailer is coming out.

    Very interesting! Great spot Mike :)

    I have a feeling a lot of the rumours and concept art we are lapping up at the moment will turn out to be mis-information spread by JJ and friends, and this could be a neat way of hinting at that!

    As people have said before, if Kira is supposed to be Han and Leia's daughter (and the resemblance to Carrie and Natalie is quite obvious) then why would she be living in some backwater world?

    We'll just have to wait and see I suppose...

    Some have speculated that there was a possiibility that the date was the date the scene was created or animated. Well according to the wiki, Rebels didn't start to be animated until Dec of 2013.

    Lucasfilm Ltd. veteran sculptor Darren Marshall, who worked on Star Wars: The Clone Wars prior to its cancellation in 2013, developed sculpts for the core characters of Star Wars Rebels before leaving Lucasfilm in June 2013. By December 2013, the production crew had finished developing the series' first season and had begun animating the first script.

    The outer rim high command may refer to Tarkin, as I am in the middle of the novel and it speaks about the relationship between He, Vader, and Sheev coming all coming from outer rim worlds.
    Although the novel takes place ten years before Rebels.

    Legacy 2 #9 involves a return to Dac, homeworld of the Mon Cal. The entire ocean planet was poisioned previously and they return to the orbital ring shipyards where the Mon Cal are enslaved by pirates.

    I've only read a few of the synopses of that comic series. There are a ton of similarities in that comic to a lot of the rumors that have been put out. Could they have used ideas from this comic? Clearly a possibility. Could this be them putting out false rumors as a misdirection? Another maybe. Interesting nonetheless.

    This is interesting. The similarities are definitely uncanny. And I have a hard time believing that this creative team - JJ/Kasdan, etc.. would use ideas from a comic. And not just ideas - an entire storyline. They have the entire EU at their disposal, too. Not that they would use any of it but why this comic? It's so random. I definitely think the lightsaber story is not a part of TFA, but it's interesting that there was a rumor that it was - which seems to parallel this Legacy story. Good catch on the hint in Rebels, and I do think it was there for a reason.
