Browsing Reddit today, I stumbled upon this fascinating thread that supposedly comes from someone who was confidentially chatting to someone involved in the behind-the-scenes work on TROS. Have a read and let me know what you think:

Now obviously it’s an unverifiable claim from an anonymous Redditor, but if it’s true, it goes some way to showing a lot of things about the level of care (or lack thereof) taken for the storyline and lore. I’m not a DT fan, personally, but I think TROS was by far the better film of the three despite having a long way to go before it could be a truly great standalone movie or even part of a saga. But there are some elements that I’m willing to believe we’re JJ’a influence, and others that downright don't make sense and therefore have a smattering of executive interference.

Anyway, lemme know what you think.

I still think it's a bogus claim. It's hard to take a "leak" seriously when it's from a known TLJ Hater/Anti-Disney Reddit page. It would be different if this was originally posted on the SWLeaks sub-Reddit or something. Logically it doesn't make any sense. What would Disney have to gain from this? and if this was even remotely true, why would anyone would want to work with Disney? I'm sure a lot of directors would of jump ship. I'm not denying that there isn't studio interference but not to this extent.

    Yep.
If you are making a billion dollar project there will always be some level of studio interference. It comes with the territory. It has to be expected, and given Abrams' and Terrio's history working on this size of projects, it wouldn't shock EITHER of them if LFL or Disney brass sent some notes or stepped in on some things.

At this point it's probably fanfiction they are writing to make themselves have "info" as to why this isn't what they like. It isn't just that Star Wars is moving beyond them to new generations, it must be the evil Disney!!!!

It's fake. It's from Saliter than Crait who hates the ST. Plus there's this hilarious gem: "JJ's cut still exists and “will always exist”. We most likely will never see it unless “someone accidentally leaks it." Like wtf is that? Why would anyone at Bad Robot or Lucasfilm care?

This is complete fan fiction and I recommend this thread be deleted. Even discussing garbage like this is embarrassing for Star Wars fandom. Stuff like this simply made up to give angry fans ammunition to spread toxic theories about a company they have zero understanding.

They're clearly trying the "SnyderCut" tactics now. It's not even an attempt at being creative enough

The stupidest thing about this BS is that Abrams was a Producer on this movie in edition to directing and co-writing it, making him one of the "suits" who supposedly "took control of the film away from him".

You can't take control of a film away from yourself, morons.

This might be what the kids call a hot take (or maybe not, reading the other replies so far, no offence @Master Raze Golladio!):

(To quote a stormtrooper from Solo: A Star Wars Story)

    “...Don’t care!”

Would I like an (additional) extended cut of TRoS? Sure, that’d be fun. But I love the movie the way it is. I think it's a triumph. And honestly it gets better every time I see it, and whilst I still like TLJ a little bit better, I am honestly shocked (pleasantly) that it’s so close. If the studio made cuts and changes over JJ’s head... well, I think they did a splendid job!

Would I be miffed for Abrams and Terrio if they had been treated badly? Sure. But I’m judging the actual film we got, not a hypothetical unicorn film and hypothetical unverified mistreatment of a creative team. Show me the ‘JJ cut’ and I’ll form an opinion on that then. If it exists. Of which I am dubious.

We could all go insane wondering about a mythical non-existent film. I’m happy with the one we got. If you’re not happy with it that sucks and I feel bad for you. But guess what, you might have not liked the one that was half an hour longer either! Best to move on and concentrate on stuff you enjoy more, either way. Just IMHO.
