Post-Solo SW Film Ranking

Hmm.. have to see it again for sure to make this call.. But it's pretty low..

 

I’ll need to see it again but since last night I’ve thought about in the below order.

1. The Last Jedi, A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back - I love all of them equally. Crème de la crème of Star Wars.
4. The Force Awakens - a little rough around the edges but still very enjoyable.
5. Return of the Jedi - nothing too remarkable except for the Vader-Luke stuff, which is *chef's kiss* delicious.
6. Solo - a decent flick with likeable characters and good action. What drags it down is the fan-service. Oh, the fan service. Yes, I've heard that line/seen that object/recognise that character, etc. but putting it in the film doesn't make you smarter.
7. Rogue One - nothing too remarkable.
8. The Phantom Menace - easily the best prequel. Still needed a lot of work but at least it feels like people who worked on it were excited about the prospect.
9. Attack of the Clones - a boring melodrama, which is saved by the Slave I bombs, a.k.a. the single coolest sound effect in all of Star Wars.
10. Revenge of the Sith - feels incredibly rushed (the whole turn of Anakin into Vader happens a bit too quickly and easily, IMO) and is also mildly offensive (I am still angry about Padmé being renegated to a walking uterus.)

 

1. New Hope/ Empire/ROTJ Love them all equally. They are perfection.
4. Solo. Of all the newer installments, Solo was the one that seemed to capture the spirit, design, humor, fun, and magic of the above in the best way.
5. The Force Awakens- While a bit rehashed and had some choices I disagreed with, it was a love letter to Star Wars and introduced the new characters in a fun and exciting way, while revisiting our old favorites.
6. Revenge of the Sith- Not a perfect flick but Obi-wan and Sheev are fantastic.
7. Rogue One- GREAT story and scenes, bold direction, but some of the characters were on the bland side.
8. TLJ- Slow first half, better second half. Strongly disliked some of the decisions but welcomed some great new planets, settings, and creatures.
9. AotC- CGI overload and cringey romance scenes. Sheev, Mace Windu, and Obi-wan provide some good scenes.
10. TPM- I don't hate it, but it's just my least favorite. The story is a little clunky and the characters are on the bland side. (And Jar Jar is still annoying.) I like some of the settings and ideas but I seldom finish watching it whenever I try to get through it!

This isn't film quality I just thought about what movie I would just want to watch if I was sitting on lazyboy picking out one. I think solo will settle in that range but that doesn't mean I didn't like it. I really liked it!

1. A New Hope - the original, everything is great, love the trench run

2. Empire Strikes Back - Awesome sequel, AT-ATs. expands the story

3. The Force Awakens- Fun movie, great new characters, wish Starkiller wasn’t blown up

4. Return of the Jedi - Luke is at his best, great ending for the OT

5. Solo - might change on repeat viewings but I enjoyed it, nice to see Star Wars criminal world, needs more Falcon if there’s sequels

6. The Last Jedi - nice to see Kylo Ren developing as a villain, a bit to many jokes some kinda cheesy, Finn needs something better to do in 9

7. Rogue One - Scarif is the best battle in Star Wars, Vader hallway, kinda slow till Scarif

8. Phantom Menace - podracers are cool, so is Darth Maul, trade negotiations are not

9. Revenge of the Sith - good movie just too rushed for rise of the empire and Darth Vader, palpatine is cool

10 Attack of the Clones - Jango Fett and Slave 1 were pretty cool, I still don’t know who Jedi master Sifo Dyas is


Middle of the list is the hardest to pick, it’s much easier picking just the most and least favourite
