    So this is a fairly simple question. Poster-wise, do you prefer the original theatrical posters, or the ones created for the special edition re-release? If you don't know them off the top of your head, here they are

    Personally I like the Special Edition posters a bit more. The theatrical ones are fine, but the special edition posters just have a visual continuity among themselves (along with, to a lesser extent, the prequel posters) that I really like (I really like visual continuity though so that may be biasing me).

    What are your thoughts?

    I get the 'visual continuity' argument, but the special edition posters only work together. Each film's poster should feature the main cast of that film. Why is Palpatine on the TESB poster? In 1997, he wasn't even the same Emperor that appeared in TESB! Why does Leia have TESB hair on ANH? Why Han and Leia not on ROTJ (or TESB for that matter)?

    Original posters for me, please!

    I will say that TESB poster is my least favourite of the Special Edition posters (and coincidentally is my favourite of the theatrical ones), specifically because it doesn't have any of our protagonists, and we only have two characters at all, so all the ships seem more like filler where we could have had some of our main characters.

    Huh, well I guess that shows me for using Wikipedia as my primary source. (Is there any rationale to having the posters in that order? It just seems odd to me.)

    You know, before I saw ANH when I was little, I thought Luke would bare his chest and Leia would actually wear a sensuous dress like on the poster. I like the Special Edition posters, but the TESB and ANH posters are so great! ROTJ is okay, but still pretty nice.

    I like ANH in the middle because is the first film (like in a podium: Gold medal for ANH, silver for TESB and bronze for ROTJ).

    Also the blue/dark color of TESB and ROTJ looks better separated with the white one (ANH) in the middle.

    This one is really tough for me.

    Man, the artwork on the Special Editions are so nice....

    But the original's are the best IMHO

    That ESB theatrical poster is just so DAMN ELEGANT, Y'ALL. Love the way the icy blue blends down, love the dramatic Han / Leia focal point, love the box logo. Not as whispy-looking as the paint work on the ROTJ theatrical posters. Just something special.

    On the walls of my childrens' room I put the ANH "Circus Art" / Style D, the ESB "20th Century Fox" and the ROJ "Revenge of the Jedi" teaser.

    Except for the cheap looking SW logo, I nevertheless have the SE ANH poster in my office because I really like the composition, choice of protagonists and vehicles.

    But I can't say the same for the SE ESB poster. Add to this that it inaccurately featured Vader's TIE fighter with his two wingmen from ANH.

    And the SE ROJ poster features the Vader duel from ESB, judging by Luke's blaster rather clearly visible....

    The theatrical ESB poster is the best of the six by a lot. The theatrical ANH poster is great because of nostalgia but in reality is pretty corny with a buff bare chested Luke and pin-up Leia. ANH style C was probably the best.

    But there are some amazing foreign posters too.
