?

Would you like to see more prequel elements added to the sequels?

  1. Yes, avoiding them too much will become a distraction.

Not saying we need over the top CGI or a heavy amount of politics, but some of the lush planets(still haven't seen Coruscant post empire), some politics wouldn't be so bad would it? I feel so deprived from TFA and R1 so far. All the planets are abandoned and lonely, single set rehashes and Earth like atmospheres? :/ And even ANH had an amazing political scene with the Empire discussing their new weapon and regional governing power over the universe.

Agreed. Say what you want about the PT and its politics, but TFA went to the opposite extreme: they destroyed a Republic system of planets that we knew NOTHING about. There's little emotional or story investment when Starkiller Base fires, because we don't even know what the Republic is.

I dont miss the PT at all. Ep. II and III are movies that I probably never will watch again. But...i dont mind to see a battle droid, a Nubian j321 or a Gungan as an easter egg in the squels.

Exactly my point. I'm not saying take story elements from the prequels, but connect the universe by using certain details from the prequels.

Yeah, I’d have to say the political intrigue (however clumsy) was one of the few things I actually appreciated about the PT. If I hadn’t read all the ancillary material going into TFA, I would have been pretty confused about what was going on in the background of that movie.
    . . . . . . . . . they mentioned clones . . . so . . . there's that.

I liked the prequels, at least the ideas behind it. The execution was not the best though, nor the portrayal of the gungans.

I hope there is talk in the Luke/ Rey storyline about the jedi order before order 66. I would also hopefully like to see some PT planets such as Naboo, Coruscant, Mustafar, geonosis, etc. But not Tatooine, i'm bored of that planet.

Not to bag on your poll, but how many times does it have to be shown that Disney/Lucasfilm are not ignoring the prequels. They are referenced often in the other canon media, it just doesn't make sense to rehash them 4, 5 and 6 saga movies later. I get the feeling that we are going to hear about them in terms of the Jedi and the Force, I even REALLY hope that we get a visit from Qui-Gon, but it's just not necessary and I say that as a person who loves me some prequels.

As I said in the SWNN post thread, it's going to be Coruscant that will be likely seen....if I were a bettin' man! :)

Damn I didn't even think about order 66 being mentioned. That would be AWESOME. And we STILL haven't seen the Coruscant post Empire which sucks. Always wanted to see how it looked occupied and see the Emperors castle. :)

I like the way you think, but sadly I fell they'll be avoiding Coruscant completely only because it played a bid role in the PT. :( Always wanted to see Luke revisit the old Jedi temple and discover some elements from the prequel era.

...which is on Coruscant, as is where Anakin and Padme's relationship began, and where the temple was sacked....we're going back there, you watch! :)

You have seen it though. It’s just the Jedi temple. You wanna see how he redecorated? Way more statues of himself would be my guess.

I guess I'm not really talking about referencing the PT, but more using elements from it. From my pov the planets especially in both TFA and R1 seem just unimaginative and rehashed. Not to mention not very detailed. If you think about it they each just have very sparse single sets or 1 base on each generic planet that wasn't on the original SW Universe Map. :/

Then the politics like mentioned above were completely side stepped and we had 0 idea about anything going on with the newly built republic unless you read the damn books. wtf?

If I were to guess, I'd say that the idea of balance will be brought up some more (Lor San Tekka already has), Hayden and Ewan are highly likely to appear as Force Ghosts (maybe even Qui-Gon, thanks to his short story in FACPOV), and we'll probably revisit at least Mustafar. I could see the scope of the battles being akin to the Battle of Coruscant, as John Boyega has said that it'll be war like we've never seen.

I'm glad to hear they won't be "ignoring the prequels", but I don't want the sequels too heavilyrelying on the OT, PT, etc. too much. I want them to be iconic in their own way.

That's true. 'Balance' in the Force was a uniquely PT concept. TLJ has our main character mentioning it in the opening to the first trailer.

I agree with everyone else: this would be great to see, and is something I would want to see.

But is there a possibility that a more casual audience could become confused if it isn't elaborated upon that it was Hosnian Prime, not Coruscant, that was destroyed in TFA?

Other than there, though, I want to see Mustafar and Tatooine for the first time since III (sure, it's not a prequel planet, but you know what I mean).

Mustafar for Kylo scouring through Vader's Castle.
Tatooine for Ben learning about his grandfather, and more specifically, about him being born into slavery; seems like something that could straighten Ben's pompous and expecting attitude a bit.

Great point to bring up, this seems like a strong possibility, and I wouldn't be surprised at all if we were to learn more about the Prophecy of the Chosen One, too.

I agree, I just want them to connect the universe. I think it's totally fine to come up with a couple of your own planets in the sequels, but damn, we haven't seen one planet besides Mustafar (and wasn't even labeled as) that was even just mentioned before in past films and books! It makes it feel generic to me. Like a totally separate universe from the one Lucas built us.

I'm quite surprised nobody else is bothered by this to be frank. haha

I think it would be amazing if Rey goes to Coruscant in Episode IX and replants a twig from the Great Force Tree where the Jedi Temple once stood.

I get you, but right off of the bat you directly give the notion that the prequels are being ignored, which is false. The reason that politics are not part of this saga is because they have nothing to do with the story.
