    C-3P0 is the most famous protocol droid in the galaxy, having loyally and faithfully served the Skywalker family for 50 years.

    Then why, oh why do I see this?:

    a picture of the PZ-4C0 action figure box, followed by the following tweet:

    "An action figure of a costume that I worked on for Star Wars Episode VII - The Force Awakens. PZ-4C0, Leia's personal protocol droid."

    This was a twitter post made by some guy who apparently worked on the costumes for the movie, patting himself on the back because an action figure of that creepy looking, powder blue abomination of a droid that he worked on is on retail shelves.

    Why does Leia need a new personal protocol droid when she already has 3P0? I thought Leia really had a soft spot for Goldenrod, so this development really disappoints me. We already know the Big 3 are pretty much getting moved aside for the new characters, but do they have to do the same thing to R2 and 3P0? This really goes against the spirit of George's original idea of having the droids basically serving as the narrators for the entire saga and being the only characters in every movie. 3P0 especially was hardly used in the prequels. I was hoping for a better showing for him in this trilogy. Sigh......

    In a first momment he looks weird, but like all most of things we are seeing first as a action figure (or any other merchandising stuff) we don't know how it will works in the film. Need to wait untill te movie.

    I like him too, but he talks a little to much. after 40 years of complaining you might want something new too. lol. or it could be hes been busy serving luke or something IDK.

    She still has C-3PO and R2-D2. I doubt her needs for assistants as a Rebel leader as we saw in TESB are the same as her needs for staff as a leader in the New Republic. A Senator has fewer staff and aides than a President, for example.

    PZ-4CO is a she. Leia refers to the droid as "her"

    I doubt this droid will have any real significance in the movies . Perhaps she is just there so C3PO can have a hilarious scene where she diss him.
    Or perhaps both R2 and Threepio are a bit grumpy that they have both been replaced by more modern models .They are two senior citizens now . a thing of the past. But in the end they show their worth when they "solve the puzzle" , whatever that means.

    I have a theory:What if C-3P0 for some time and for some reason {an example is even about a decade !} was a ''technical assistant prisoner" for the first order {dont forget the red arm with a color already in use with first order elite units or maybe a spare part from another ex-imperial protocol droid } and R2-D2 was a part in a resistance team with the task to find Luke? Thats is enought for Leia to start look for the replacements of the 2 droids in the faces of PZ-4C0 and BB-8....

    From Journey to the Force Awakens: Moving Target (Leia book)

    PZ-4C0 was assigned the task of assisting "General Organa" in the recording of her memoirs. The droid asked Leia seven times over the past 40-something days but Leia keeps pushing it off. Major Ematt helped the droid prepare to interview Leia.

    PZ-4C0 (to Leia): "You are the leader of the Resistance, a critical check on the designs of the First Order. You are a symbol of the Resistance and an inspiration to all soldiers who follow our cause and do their duty in hard times."

    Leia dictates a story set before ROTJ to the droid.

    If recent rumours are true, Peazy (PC-4CO) appears in the first third of the film (because all revealled figures do, apparently--although I imagine this is a loose guide). Isn't Leia meant to dispatch an emissary (Korr Sella) who is killed early on? Maybe Peazy is dispatched with her, to act as protocol droid during her mission?....

    Mon Mothma is Chancellor of the Galactic Senate of the new Republic in the Star Wars: Aftermath book after ROTJ. What the situation is just before or during TFA is not clear.
