If Vader and The Emperor had survived Episode 6...
Would they not both be dead of old age by the time Episode 7 starts? It's set 30 years after the events of Episode 6.
Trying to remember if being strong with The Force prolongs the life span of humans. My guess is The Emperor surly would have been over 100 year old at the start of Episode 7 so he would have probably died. How old would Vader have been?
Thought I would put that question towards you all as you are the experts!

I think Vader would have eventually overthrown Palpatine.

If they survived both would be quite old and in some serious pain.

Maybe, but i think if palp did kill luke without vaders intervention, Vader would be dwelling on that hate and suffering so i reckon he could dispose of him.

But that lightening is strong as yo.

Anakin was in his late-mid 40's, so he possibly could have been alive by TFA but he would have been in his mid 70's. Palpatine.....not so much he would be pushing 100 years old....he could have been alive, but he most likely would be very decrepit and being kept alive by the Dark Side, similar to how Darth Sion kept himself alive in KOTOR II

I'm pretty sure that Palpatine sustains himself with the dark side. He doesn't seem worried about his age in ROTJ and in the Making of ROTJ someone compares him to Methuselah. Also keep in mind that Count Dooku was about 80 years old in AOTC.

Improvement in tech means longer life spans. So is 100 still really old? The Emperor had acess to the best.

I would have said no, but for Tarkin's comments on Kenobi - "Surely he must be dead by now"

Well, maybe Tarkin assumed he had been hunted down by inquisitors, if he hadn't died during order 66.

Well he would not have access to the high end services that keep the emperor healthy either. I imagine life expectancy on Corasaunt is much different than Tatooine or other places someone could hide for years and years on the outer rim.

Vader would have been roughly 80, but, with his robotics, he would be closer to 50, but Palpatine would be closing in on 200, but he uses the dark side to live longer since he knows (partially) how to not die unless he is thrown down a certain reactor core, so I think that Vader would have come close to overthrowing it but chicken out, but Palpatine would probably overthrow Vader and The Rebels would be totally wiped out along with The Skywalker Bloodline and The Galaxy would have been turned to the darkness, wth Snoke eventually coming back and turning Sidious into HIS apprentice .

In the Legends Universe, Palpatine did survive, but not physically. He stated that because he was so immersed in the dark side, that his body was actually being destroyed by dark side energy. So he would consistently re-incarnate into cloned bodies. He never planned on his apprentice succeeding him, his plan was to live forever and remain the master Sith. I do think Vader would eventually succumb to old age, but I actually think he would be replaced before that (as in killed for his position as Palpatine's apprentice). In the current canon, Palpatine began seeking Vader's replacement as soon as the events on Mustafar occurred.
