If only they had a member of the team who wasn't doing anything in TROS who could have been out gathering these troops with an iconic Rebellion leader instead of running around chasing several lame macguffins. If only....

Very well said. I think they gave (paid him actually) her to Plutt for safe keeping, to hide in plain sight as it were. Since no one would suspect that the first place the nobility would place their child is in the hands of a junk trader. The plan was to wait until things cooled down. Then they'd come back and get her and go into hiding. Unfortunately they were murdered and Ochie was killed without letting anyone know what his mark was. And Rey was stuck on Jakku.

I haven't read this for a fact, but Rey's wikipedia said that Plutt made sure that Rey was left alone, or was never under serious harm from others. It's theorized that it's because she's her best scavenger. But I think it was more than that. I always thought that there was more to Rey's story. She just doesn't come across like rif-raff who her parents would cast off. She comes across like a girl who grew up in a patrician home and just kept the mannerisms and speech. I understand that SW generally casts British actors to play members of the aristocracy.

Her background story that Ren told her just seemed too pat. I thought that she might turn into the daughter of a politician or military officer who got into trouble and had to go on the run. Even when I read the spoiler that she's a Palpatine. I thought she was some distant relative. Never occured to me in a thousand years that she'd be heir to the throne. But it pleased me when I found this out, since I love warrior queen archetype and Rey suits it so perfectly.

I'd like to know what happened to the force he brought with him. This is a guy who picks people up with the force and flies them across the room (TFA), stops blaster bolts in mid air (TFA) and plays tug of war with troop transports (TROS). He shouldn't need a lightsaber to fight the Knights of Ren. It shouldn't have even been a fight.

I have a question about the whole "All the Sith live in me" stuff. I understand the idea to be that the "master" Sith is actually all of the previous Sith in one person. The "apprentice" eventually kills the master and all the Sith (including the master) enter into the apprentice's body.

So, what happens if the master (containing all the Sith) dies in a speeder accident? Or his space cruiser explodes? Or he chokes on bantha jerky? What if there is no apprentice or anyone else to kill him with hatred? Would that just be the end of the Sith? Does the apprentice start anew and with a blank slate?

Darkside users can transfer their essence into an object when they die. There was a sith, the name escapes me but it's canon, he transferred his essence into his helmet, and whoever wore the helmet was possessed by his spirit.
Similarly with Palpatine, he must have been able to transfer his spirit into something. It might have been his cane, or even Vader's helmet? We don't know.

I think it was Momin. It was in a comic book, which I agree is totally canon. However, I think that should have been in the movie in Palpatine's case. The lack of explanation for his return was just lazy. Also, what would Palpatine possibly imbue with his essence on the way down the Death Star II's shaft? Maybe the Death Star itself? No matter what it was, finding out in a movie would have been light years better than relying on a comic book. That comic book took place before the OT, if I recall correctly. It wasn't even a TROS tie in or anything. Nobody would even know to look in it for the answer.

Right it was momin. Yeah an explanation would have been nice. I'm still hoping for an actual explanation. Im just trying to answer the question as best I can. I think that was the whole premise behind Palpatine coming back. He had to keep transferring himself into different vessels.

Remember how his former apprentice Maul did exactly the same, magically appearing at the end of Solo, even if the official story had sliced his body in two parts, who fell down the shaft on Naboo many years before.
A true Sith master couldn't let a dead apprentice be better than himself. Palpatine set the records straight.

For real : I did not have a complete overview of the whole Palpatine's Plan until I watched a youtube video who gathered "all the planets of the Sequel Trilogy".
This is where I was given the relationship between Endor, Jakku and Exegol and what Sidious had left in terms of instructions, leading to the First Order, and why all the super destroyer parking around Exegol, and so on. To say the least, that is not very clear all the 3 movies of the Sequel Trilogy long.

That saga, where you have to read books and comics if you want to understand what happens in movies...

At least Maul's return was explained in the Clone Wars animated series. But, the amount of people that watched Solo and hadn't seen Clone Wars was probably significant. That's a guess on my part, but I believe there are a lot of "movie only" people out there who were scratching their heads. I'm sort of one of them. I'm trying to watch Clone Wars now but it's taking a while. I'd heard of his return long before and looked it up, so I knew he was canonically alive when I saw Solo. That's because I'm a Star Wars nerd; the poor casual Star Wars fans were probably confused.

    Yes I know, but:
    1. TCW is for teenagers, and I am more than 50 y.o
    2. This show is seven seasons (+ 1 including TBB) long, and for my part I have a job and also other activities.
    3. It wasn't difficult to explain the things in Solo, in one, maybe two sentences. Everyone is then free to dive into the issue, watching the whole show.

Hey... I would be sort of disappointed if I had to dig some important information about Chewbacca, in one or maybe two episodes from Rebelz, were the wookies are like.... that:

You know, when a movie force you to watch a teenager show, to buy and read comics, to listen carefully to the lyrics of the third part of the fifth song of the second album of.... in order to understand what's going on in the movie... I say : this is where the fun goes away. :(

... and this is highlighted with the numerous "mystery boxes" openened in the ST, and still unresolved after 3 movies...

I'm right there with you, which is why it has taken me so long to even start watching Clone Wars. I have a job and a family and making time for it is difficult, at best. I have heard very good things about it though, so I want to check it out.

But if a character is "killed" in a movie, I think their return should be explained in a movie or they should remain dead or appear only in non movie media. Maul showing up alive, unexplained was jarring. They were probably hoping to make another Solo, where is return could be explained for the "movie only" people, but it didn't happen. A pity.

I understood what happened. Both Maul and Palpatine managed to live on beyond their seeming deaths.

How people can sometimes do that in the GFFA, I don't exactly know. And I don't expect they will ever explain how that works. But neither of them were the first times that's happened and they won't be the last.

Two other sentences explain the things very well :
Yoda - The will of the Force it is.
George Lucas - Hey. It's just a movie.
