I don't know about everyone else but, the theaters in the area where I live all have assigned seating. I chose my seats online and then my wife and I will cruise in a little before the starting time on that day and sit down in our seats. I love that I don't have to stand in line anymore.

The AMC where I am viewing this have assigned seating, so no lines, when I went to see TFA, the LINES were massive for the midnight premier and it was awesome seeing all my fellow fans there and people in cosplay talking about what they were expecting for the film. I won't get that luxury this time :/

How did you already see it? Both theaters where I purchased my tickets both have assigned seating so I'm going 15 minutes before the show.

Assigned seating for a theater was a genius idea. I will only see movies at and assigned seating theater forever. The only downside is the loss of the communal feeling of a waiting line, but then the big upside totally makes it worth it. NO LINES!!

I live in a smaller rural area, and have already preordered a ticket. It's also a college town during the end of finals week, so the few kids who are still here are more than likely studying.

It was the same situation last year with TFA, so while there were certainly a lot of people there, I had no trouble finding seats for my party.

Regardless, I'm neurotic about being on time for things and getting seats, so I'm already starting to stress out about it.

Yeah they did that with mine but I was kept waiting additional 25 minutes, worth the wait.

Yes, this is the good and bad of assigned seating. I really like not having to wait in line and knowing I will have a good seat, but I do miss that feeling of camaraderie. I remember standing in line for The Phantom Menace and everyone being so excited (we didn't know what a disappointment we were in for!).

Ya I agree. For TFA, I kind of missed that anticipation with all the other big fans like I had with Phantom Menace. And with the ban on masks where i was the costumes weren't out in full force like Menace was. I enjoyed the experience so much, even the film faults and all I like. The build up and anticipation for that movie was a once in a lifetime experience that I will never forget. Leaving the theater and at that time a lot of people were pretty excited and enjoyed it. Saw people immediately getting back in line for another showing. It was such a surreal experience.

However, I'm older now so I enjoy not having to wait in line anymore.

Yes, the ban on masks - a sad comment on the state of our society. When I took my kids to see TFA, we all dressed up. I was Kylo Ren, my oldest daughter was a stormtrooper and my son was Darth Vader. None of us could wear masks, though. My younger daughter was Princess Leia, so she didn't need a mask anyway.
