There's surely Indy fans here. One of my favorite movie series ever (even moreso than SW), been a fan since childhood and I'm in the minority of fans who loves all of the films. My ranking for the series is sure to be controversial and raise some eyebrows but it goes:

    Temple Of Doom
    Raiders Of The Lost Ark
    Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull
    The Last Crusade

I think in a lot of ways Raiders is the best but TOD is the one I find the most entertaining and fun. I love the darker tone of it and like how it didn't try to mimic Raiders, yet still kept it's adventurous feeling. I actually rotate back and forth on Last Crusade and Crystal Skull, I enjoy both for their own reasons, but I find I slightly prefer Skull these days. I like the Sci-Fi aspect of it and that it didn't rehash the Nazis again. Crusade is fun but I found the Nazis as the villains again pretty boring and the movie was too lighthearted for my liking, though I still enjoy it tremendously.

    2 - Raiders

3 - Cruzade (that I dont like too much)

4 - Crystal Skull (this one is horrible, the AOTC of Indy series...hahahha).

    Raiders of the Lost Ark
    The Last Crusade
    Temple of Doom
    Kingdom of the Crystal Skull

For me Raiders will always be the quintessential Indy movie. It started it all, and I think all of its pieces work the best together. It has some of the best action sequences ever shot, especially the car chase scene with all the Nazis. It also has the best Indy girl with Marion, frankly the only good Indy girl if we're being honest. Also the character interactions are great as well, plus, you've got the classic boulder scene.

The Last Crusade is great as well, love the flashback scene where we find out how Indy got his scar, fear of snakes, bull whip and hat. Also love Sean Connery as his father. More great action sequences and character interactions too. Overall great film, but not quite on the level of Raiders for me.

Temple of Doom actually has a lot of things going for it, but one thing in particular drops it below The Last Crusade in my eyes. That thing is the character of Willie Scott, she is the single most annoying character in ANY of the Indy films, Crystal Skull included. Her shrill voice and obnoxious personality makes every scene she is in worse. That doesn't ruin the whole movie for me by any means, but it is an unfortunate part of it.

Kingdom of the Crystal Skull is unfortunate because it could have been really great, but it was just OK. I don't hold the belief that it is an awful film, in fact it had a lot of things going for it early on. Marion is the best Indy girl so bringing her back was a good thing, additionally, I loved that since it was set in the 50's that it had a sci-fi story involving aliens and Russians. People who say that the aliens ruined the movie weren't paying very close attention to the movie. Even Mutt was likeable enough early on in the film. What drug it down for me though was things like Cate Blanchett's unconvincing Russian accent and the fact that other than a brief moment when he fights the big Russian guy surrounded by ants, Indy never seemed like he was really in danger. Also, towards the end, things really go off the rail with the cheesy sword fight scene followed by the single worst scene in any Indy film...

The sad thing is that prior to how the ending was handled, it still had the potential to be a good movie.

It's been a while since I've actually sat down and watched Indiana Jones, but the ranking I've always given is is

    The Last Crusade
    Raiders of the Lost Ark

    Kingdom of the Crystal Skull
    The Temple of Doom

I agree with @Admiral Petty in that there are a lot of admirable things about Temple of Doom, but Willie really drags the whole film down.

Gonna be really boring here. But I rank them in sequential order.
    1. Raiders
    2. Doom
    3. Crusade
    4. Crystal Skull

I think they are all decent. I don't hate Crystal Skull as much as some. Although there are some cringe worthy moments. but the overall movie was "fine". I could see rating Doom above Raiders, but Raiders (like ANH) is just so perfect in its execution and simplicity that I can find nearly no fault with it. Even if Doom is more Ambitious, it has its flaws. There is something to be said for a perfectly executed but simple film.

Excited about the Indy 5 news, I hope it's a worthy finale for the series and I'm optimistic it will be.

    I would rank:
    1. Last Crusade
    2. Temple of Doom (my favourite)
    3. Lost Ark
    4. Crystal Skull
I think all the options have been covered now? :p

Please don't insult Crystal Skull by comparing it to AOTC! :)

    1) Raiders of the Lost Ark
I mean, it's my second favorite film of all time (just behind Back to the Future). It is just the perfect example of an action/adventure film and is a beautiful tribute to the adventure serials that were its inspiration. And it had my favorite action scene of all time (the truck chase).

    2) Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade
It takes the action and adventure of Raiders and adds to wonderful elements to them. The first is the wonderful dynamic between Indy and his father (played to perfection by Sean Connery). The other is the tone of the film, which I find is best summed up in the Grail's theme.

    3) Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom
This was actually my favorite when I was little and I still love it. While some of the less than respectful depictions of Indian culture is a bit offensive, I do love the dark tone and the fact that the villains are scary. Also, my dark sense of humor came into play here. For example, even when I was little (as in before I even attended school), I found the heart scene to be funny. Now some of you are deeply scared of me now, but let me explain. To my much younger self, it was so over the top that I thought it was MEANT to be funny. It wasn't until I was older that I realized, "Hey, this is actually disturbing imagery."
Also, I never found Willie to be annoying. I always liked her and I found her funny. And to be fair, how many of you would have similar reactions to the things she encountered? I know I likely would.

    4) Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull
This is the worst one, hands down. Is it the worst thing ever? No. I would place it either on the low end of mediocre or the high end of bad, with me leaning more towards the former. It could have been a truly good film in the series. You can see it in the motorcycle chase, which feels like classic Indiana Jones and is a great moment in the series as a whole, let alone the film itself. And even the idea of aliens isn't bad. Plus, the acting was solid. But there is so much that holds it back. Marion being brought back without really adding anything to the plot, the suspension of disbelief was stretched to breaking point and beyond, the feeling of realness (which the original films had in spades) was gone, as was the grit, and many other poor decision making that just added up until the film became a disappointment.

Also, it had Indy randomly lecturing on quicksand and "viscosity". I don't care how long it he has been primarily a teacher instead of a field archaeologist, it is incredibly out of character!

I agree with this list, but I might put Fate of Atlantis ahead of Temple of Doom. That was an amazing game.

I like Last Crusade but always found it overrated. For all of the OTT elements TOD and KOTCS have, TLC has just as much of that and just as silly and outrageous.
