    Worst to best:
    4. Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. It had some funny and interesting bits, but ultimately very forgettable, and I have no attachment to it.
    3. Temple of Doom. Not bad, but sometimes a little too grotesque. And the misrepresentation of Hindu belief was annoying.
1/2. I have a hard time ranking Raiders and Last Crusade above each other. Last Crusade was actually the first Indy movie I saw, sue me.

I don't get the complaints of TOD being too dark or gruesome. Raiders was also quite dark and definitely violent, arguably even moreso than TOD. TOD has the heart ripping but ROTLA has bleeding gunshot wounds to the head, a guy torn apart by an airplane propellor, an impaling through the forehead and melting faces.

I think is has more to do with presentation than anything else.
In ToD all of these things are given to the audience as examples of the foreign and the grotesque (which in and of itself is a whole 'nother issue), whereas in RotLA they are treated as simple elements of a rollicking good adventure (except for the face melting, which I agree is absolutely terrifying).

I never got TOD being racist either, that reeks of looking for something to complain about. Even as a kid I never thought the Thuggees were representative of Hindu people in general. If TOD is racist against Indian/Hindu peope that Raiders and TLC are also racist against Germans for portraying them as Nazis. Granted it's done in a historical context but it's still a negative and demeaning stereotype.

Nice to see the TOD love, that movie always gets trashed way too much.

    My personnal choices:

    1. Raiders of the Last Ark - Probably one of the greatest movies ever made
    2. Temple of Doom - Not as good as Raiders but has amazing pieces of movie history (the Monkey Brains, Mola Ram, the Mine Chase)
    3. The Last Crusade - The first all family Indiana Jones movie, perhaps too much easy laugh gagg but still funny

PS - Let's pretend "The Kingdom of the Crystall Skull" never happened, OK?
PPS - Actually some of the Young Indiana Chronicles TV Show were really good

After my most recent gothrough of the series this past weekend, my ranking is still the same:

    TOD
    ROTLA
    KOTCS
    TLC

All are very good in my book and I'm confident 5 will retain the quality.

    1. Raiders- the original and classic. A flawless plot and cast of characters.

    2. Temple of doom- ranked 2nd partially because it was my favorite as a child. I enjoy the darker tone juxtaposed with some wittier dialogue.

    3. Last crusade- a wonderful story, the only reason it's not #2 is because as much as i like Sean as indy sr., he steals the show at times.

    4. Crystal skull- not nearly as terrible as some would have you believe, but its the weakest link in the chain for sure.

    I have the same list.

I don't see a problem with him stealing the show, I guess that's why he got cast, he soaks up the spotlight.

    4. Crystal Skull - only seen it the one time, back when it came out. I refuse to acknowledge it's existence but will as a one-off for this thread.

    1. Last Crusade - Funny, Witty, Clever, and the music is awesome.

    2. Raiders - All around fun.

    3. Temple of Doom - A bit different but not bad.

    4. Crystal Skull - I actually worked on this one (Locations, NM). It was riddled with too many FX, and in my opinion, strayed too far from the roots of an Indy film.

    Raiders of the Lost Ark
    The Last Crusade
    Temple of Doom
    Kingdom of the Crystal Skull

I could have done without kingdom of the crystal skull. it ruined a great trilogy for me.
