for me the season really sags in the middle, but that's not wholly unexpected. : D

 

Pretty damn similar to how I feel about the whole season, with a few of the scores flipped or rounded down.

I hope they listen to feedback and give us a tighter Season 2 - or at the very least, less derivative standalone episodes with characters that don't feel like they're walking around with a "I'm just here for this chapter, so they didn't bother to give me an actual personality" sign. The first three and the last two episodes were something special. I like Giancarlo Esposito as the main villain. I love the scaled-down approach. The darksaber looks a bit different in live action than what I thought it would be, but the fact that they introduced it has to mean that we'll no doubt be seeing Mandalore proper at some point - which I'm obviously down for.

 

10/10 from the beginning of the first episode to end of the last. I can't think of a single thing I haven't absolutely loved. They could put all the episodes together into one long movie and I'd buy a theater ticket to it in a heartbeat. If it was a movie, it would be one of the best and rival the greatness of the Originals in my opinion.

 

Very unpopular opinion but for me, this show is a wonderbra. Good looking outside with nothing inside.

OK, this is Star Wars, there's a lot of fan service but there is not once of a bigger story in the whole season.

I don't get it at all.

Too bad for me.

A baby Yoda and a dark saber isn't enough for a 2019 show.

I agree with you rating The Gunslinger an 8, I didn't like it at first but the episode has grown on me.

I'm surprised you rated The Sanctuary a 6/10. I understand why lots of people didn't like it, but the AT-ST scenes were masterpieces to me. It also showed us a new world we had never seen before, along with the Baby Yoda soup meme.

 

I totally get that. But The Mandalorian evokes something in me. It evokes that western gunslinger DNA that Star Wars has. It evokes that dirty, lived-in world that Star Wars used to have. It brings back that sense of wonder and mysticism in Baby Yoda and the Force to me. It evokes the serials that Star Wars was based off of. It's not perfect, and it doesn't really go beyond skin-deep in a lot of ways, I agree. But the emotions it evokes for me are pure Star Wars.

 

My rankings tend to be a tad misleading. Whereas most people would consider a 7/10 rating to be average, the 5/10 rating fulfills that purpose for me. Chapter 6 is decent and competently made. It's an enjoyable episode to me, but what brings the score down a notch is that it essentially feels like a routine homage to Seven Samurai, and either doesn't have the time to play around with that setup in a unique way, or deliberately chooses not to.

Overall, 7/10 seems fair. Some good, some not too good. Lot of reliance on nostalgia to get through a few eps IMO.

I think. Rough numbers. Viewing in the context of the season, the less it played into the larger story, with so few episodes, I felt like they were largely unnecessary

One season of this show has already superseded the Sequel Trilogy and comes very close to toppling Rebels as my favorite Disney-era Star Wars media. It's everything I've wanted in a Star Wars television show and I cannot wait to see it continue.
