Rebels I watched until the second season and I really liked. Then they took out the show from netflix and I didnt get to watch season 3 and 4. I will wait to sign Disney Plus to continue to watching.

Resistence I didnt see yet but I saw some trailers and the show look very nice, at least visually. I also will wait to sign Disney Plus to watch it.

Sorry to post a new list having just posted one a few days ago, but I've been rewatching everything in preparation for The Rise of Skywalker and decided to put a lot of thought into revising my personal assessment of all things Star Wars. Also, I think it's fun to make lists and rank things. Here's my latest, and I think this one should hold up for a while, at least until I add The Mandalorian and The Rise of Skywalker to it.

    • Star Wars - Foundations don't get any more solid than this. Pure and simple, and not at all weighed down by the mythology that would come later. Unquestionably, if you had to recommend just one SW movie to a newcomer, this would have to be that one.
    • The Empire Strikes Back - No sophomore slump here! I can't add much that hasn't already been said about this movie. It has a well earned reputation as one of the best sequels ever made, but the original is still tops in my book.
    • The Force Awakens - A bit of a rehash, yes, but it gets more right than wrong-- overall tone being one of the many things done well. It's a fun adventure with great new characters and little expository fat slowing it down. But that lack of expository weight can also be a problem.
    • The Last Jedi - Audacious and unexpected, there's A LOT more here than meets the eye, making it the one Star Wars movie most open to personal interpretation. For example, I see nods to Sun Tzu, Greek mythology, the Battle of the Alamo. I picked up on references to or inspiration drawn from Unforgiven, The Godfather, Wings, Kurosawa's Rashomon. I even picked up a subtle nod to Truffaut's Jules and Jim. Sure, there are moments that could have been handled better, and it might be a tad overlong, but no movie is perfect. If one can get past some of the surface clunkiness, there is a lot more going on under the hood.
    • Return of the Jedi - Kinda nonsensical first act with a half-baked rescue plan and Luke's near-Sith-like takeout of Jabba and his entourage, a fairly dull second act punctuated essentially by Star Wars' version of a car chase, and some ret-conning to smooth over the bumpier and unplanned parts of the trilogy's story arc. Uninspired acting, at times, too. But it's all redeemed in a BIG way by an epic third act that is still as exciting today as it was 36 years ago.
    • Revenge of the Sith - A tale of two halves. The first half is lightweight and so-so, but the tone shifts dramatically in the second half once the cartoony General Grevious is out of the picture. From that point on, the rest of the movie is nearly flawless. This could easily swap places with ROTJ in the list, though. I keep going back and forth on that.
    • Rogue One: A Star Wars - I had a hard time with this at first because of its tone and how it doesn't adhere to established storytelling style, but I've since grown to like it. It holds an awkward place in the series for me, an inessential movie about a pivotal moment in the Saga.
    • Solo: A Star Wars Story - Now that some time has passed and the film has cooled off, so has my interest in it. When Disney first announced their schedule of upcoming SW movies back in 2012 or whenever that was, this was the one movie that interested me the least. It's a fun ride and not the dumpster fire it's been made out to be by some; it's just kinda superfluous. Maybe the upcoming Cassian Andor series on Disney+ will pick up some of its strands, like the various disconnected Rebel cels, and find a way to make this movie more relevant.
    • Attack of the Clones - Most of the problems with this one for me are tied to the "romance," which is pretty much contained to the second 30 minutes of the movie. I think the movie picks up once Obi-Wan tangles with Jango Fett about an hour or so into the picture. The third act is also a lot of fun, though the CGI has dated badly. But I wish more were done with the Padme assassination subplot, that it continued into Act 2. A touch of danger might have made a more persuasive motivation for the romance subplot, instead of what we got.
    • The Phantom Menace - This one has NOT aged well for me, and I now think it deserves some of the bashing it's gotten over the years. Jar Jar's not even the biggest problem. Neither are the midichlorians, which I never objected to. For me, it's just the lack of a compelling story told in a rather flat, perfunctory manner, with an overblown visual style that seems dissociated from the rest of the Saga.

Heh, it just occurred to me that I referred to Episode IV as Star Wars in my little write-up above, and not A New Hope. Must be showing my age...
