    Only if his 'true vision' had always been to do WW1 in space, which, in retrospect.. probably was in at least some part. I don't hold Lucas steady to any true visions. Was cgi necessary to tell the Clone Wars? The costuming cost of 1000s of extras says yes. Filoni says no, ironically by virtue of TCWs more intimate perspective. I think it ultimately comes down to what we saw in Puppets to Pixels. George is just way more comfortable and sociable around a bunch of geeks working in Lightwave than he is on a movie set.

    Many people argued about the lack of practical effects and the overuse of CGI in the prequels yet it was them who didn't know what they were talking about as the PT had tons of practical effects.
