Rebel Alliance Pilots in "A NEW HOPE" Medal Ceremony

Yes one of the most debated topics in the SW universe is Chewie's medal.....I've posted on here elsewhere that the penultimate closing scene of Ep IX for me will be a triumphant medal ceremony where Chewie gets not one, but two medals!!!

 

No offense, but you are applying human standards to a Wookiee. Perhaps Wookiees just don't like to wear medals. Considering that Chewie always wears his ammunition belt I wouldn't be surprised that they laugh about humans accepting medals which these then don't wear permanently.

In my headcanon I'd like to believe that Chewie felt that neither him or Han deserved to be receiving a medal. Technically speaking they just joined the battle once they no longer put themselves into danger, not exactly "brave" in my book.

Of course, the medals might have been awarded for securing the Death Star plans, but still. Chewie probably didn't mind to tag along because Solo wanted to get close to Princess Leia one more time.
