    I noticed that some Rebel soldiers in Rogue One are using several variations of the Russian BDU "Gost" winter uniforms in this leaked set picture (top image, leaked earlier in 2015). Is Russia supplying the Rebel Alliance? Do you like the new aesthetics of the Rebel soldiers? Does anyone recognize the weapons they are carrying? Are those the large version DH17's which some resistance fighters were using in The Force Awakens (pic. 11 in the Force Awakens weapon and equipment overview below)?

    It´s a bit more on the realistic side. I would love to see also some mix-and match stuff. It wouldn´t hurt. Updating stuff doesn´t work always.

    I actually like the look of those uniforms. They kind of look like variants of the uniforms worn by the Rebel foot soldiers on Hoth and Endor that are darker and more muted in color.

    From a 501st/Rebel legion standpoint, I am excited to see costumes that will have some off the shelf parts available for them. All the TFA costumes are 100% custom, and very hard to replicate.

    Looks pretty tame, but that's because I can't see the details very well. It does match a war-like look, though, especially since its near a beach. There will be more variety for sure.

    These orange boxes look interesting, especially what appears to be a sniper rifle version of the DH17 Imperial hand blaster on top of one of these.

    The image with the Rebel extras on the left looks a bit confusing. The guy on the left appears to be wearing a standard Earth helmet, the one in the middle an Endor / Rebel Commando helmet and the one on the right Hoth goggles:

    I would have preferred the Rebel soldier uniforms suggested by McQuarrie in 1995 (i.e. pimped uniforms from the ANH medal ceremony with Rebel Commando helmets), but what we get is very close, thankfully.

    I just read the Marvel "Star Wars, Vader Down" comic. It appears the Rebels are wearing this same uniform in the comic. Since this comic is based just after the destruction of the first Death Star, it's close on the timeline with Rogue One. It's nice to see the connection between the movie and comic!

    yeah those other helmets look like they're modified american world war II helmets. The other helmets are of course the commando helmets. The guy with caps and the goggles appears to be wearing a sort of hoth fatigue, perhaps they now interpret this to be standard issue rebel uniform? You also see those hoth caps and goggles here:

    Weren't a lot of them actually parts taken from old guns like The OT to match the aesthetics ?

    Yeah, but just take A280 used by the Rebels on Hoth and Endor. That's a german Sturmgewehr. You don't just buy it anywhere on the market these days. And if you can, you need to spend at least $4500. Same with the E11 props, though those weapons are much more easy to come by because they were still used by British Army in the early 90s as a weapon for military police and drivers.

    They did the same thing with The Force Awakens: though it is much cheaper to buy the modern weapons on which the props in TFA are based.

    yeah for components they added to existing weapons. But I'm sure the new TFA stormtrooper weapons are almost completely 3D printed.

    I hope digging for gold is not a standard issue of the new Rebel alliance. Anyway, I like the look. it looks like Battlefront.

    indeed. And the first a bit like ghostbusters :p It is funny, it has five armour pieces on the chest, but those are actually folding stocks taken from stormtrooper rifles :p

    Felicity Jones, with her outfit and the way that she holsters her blaster, also looks even more like a female Han Solo than I initially thought.
