I'm not saying there is going to be a story changing significance to why Rebels seems to want to get the first half of season 5 finished before TLJ release, but it's gotta be some kind of spoiler tied with it? My only two guesses would be Ahsoka's return or Benicio's character being Ezra?

Personallly I'd love either or both.

Yeah, does seem like a strange release schedule.

As I understand it, though, we have 7 episodes before TLJ, with only one airing by itself. Perhaps that final one does contain some spoiler. Who knows? :)

    Other possibilities include:

Out of the 6 episodes that are doubled up, 4 are halves of a two parter. Could be that they just stuck with the doubled up formula to keep the show consistent, while allowing for two part episodes to be aired in succession.

Or, maybe that's just how the network's timeslots were open.

Yeah, as much as I'd like there to be someone's return in TLJ you're probably right. I've always liked two part episodes anyway. The pacing seems much better then trying to squeeze a plot into 23 min or whatever it is. :)

That said, I like the idea of Ezra's return of being an old, Grey or Dark Jedi because it would introduce something new to the films as far as this type of Jedi and potential powers they'd carry, but with a familiar person so it wouldn't feel generic.

Yeah, up until recently I've been pretty sure that Disney would want to eventually incorporate in some small way (at least) stuff from their animated series into a movie. After all, I expect that after playing it relatively safe for a few years, we'd start getting a much more connected universe, much like Marvel.

Thing is with that analogy, Disney hasn't quite done a solid job in connecting their TV shows to their films. Sure the shows reference the movies, but it's not really a two way street. I wonder if we'll see a similar model, then, with Star Wars.

This is true. It's not normally a two ways street, but Marvel doesn't really have side characters often the way Star Wars has the freedom of having. Marvel is more you're either a Super Hero or Villain and then you have people who are attached to that character like a Pepper Pots or whatever love interest.. Star Wars has a vast history of characters that could turn up such as Saw Gerrera showing up in R1. I think Disney is aware that there are certain characters that they could introduce from the canon books and animated series that wouldn't take much of an effect on the story for casual fans, but super fans would recognize and love it.

That's true, Saw is a great example that SW may be willing for more ebb and flow than Marvel has shown.
He was also kind of a disaster in the film (in my personal opinion), but let's hope that future attempts occur and are better.

Haha Agreed. IMO Rogue One was a disaster in many ways, but the OT fans love nostalgia over story so far. lol

That said, it wasn't the fact that it was Saw Gerrera that made it a disappointing, but the overall character and story development period. If anything I at least knew Saw and why he was so effed up.

Vader hacking at the end made up 4 any sins R1 had.

I have to disagree only because I can't sit through the entire movie anymore and Instead just watch Vader's two scenes to get my fix. Everything else felt super generic for me. A film that leaned entirely on nostalgia and special effects. :(
