Filoni has specifically said that Thrawn and Ezra both survived. Now where? that's the question. Looking at the official galaxy map, Lothol is on the edge of known space, so they could have gone to "Wild Space" or really who knows. Part of any show dealing with Sabine and Ahsoka looking for Ezra is going to involve trying to find a way to figure out how to find him in the first place, either a map, or someone who knows more than they do.

I think the idea is that perhaps some maps would be there. There are some planets which were originally located in "wild space." I think Mortis is located in Wild Space. It is mostly like the Unknown regions, uncharted. I really grabbed that because it seemed more likely than the Purgil, taking Ezra and Thrawn all the way across the known galaxy to the unknown regions on the other side. Its possible that Sabine and Ahsoka are out in the outer rim looking for ancient maps or something to take them to another planet where they can begin their search. Its possible that Mando disovers such thing on his search for baby Yoda's home world and in essence, they trade information. Ahsoka tells Mando where baby Yoda came from and he give them the "map" or something. In the mean time they reform a sort of new Mandalorian army.
