So does anyone think Zeb is playing cards with a certain "old smoothie" at the end of the Rebels Recon #9 video?

I think others have speculated that Adam Driver could be playing Ezra Bridger in ep7. For this to be so, it would require the story to have Ezra stop aging for about 25-30 years so that his age matches Adam Driver's age in the ep7 timeline which is 30 years post-ROTJ. As others have said, this can be accomplished by carbon freezing or by some other age-defying reason we do not yet know about.

Well, if this is what they are doing, then maybe in REBELS we will see Ezra turn himself in to the EMPIRE to save his friends or he will just get captured. The Inquisitor will turn him over to Darth Vader. Vader will hold Ezra on the Sith homeworld of Morriban with no way for him to get off the planet, essentially a prisoner. Vader trains him in secret as his apprentice so that they can overthrow the emperor one day. Ezra is a reluctant apprentice at first but then he eventually begins to understand, relate to, and idolize Vader. Vader and some Sith spectres are his only visitors. And Yoda and Obi-Wan cannot sense Ezra's presence on Morriban. So, they have no idea what happened to him.

While the above is going on, perhaps Kanan and the rest of the Ghost crew steal the Death Star plans and then get blown up real good on Alderaan before they can attempt to save Ezra. And The Inquisitor gets killed off as well. Either by Kanan, Vader, or Death Star. Take your pick.

However, things change big time once Luke Skywalker and friends blow up the Death Star, and Vader realizes that he has his own son available to him. Vader decides to put the Ezra project on hold via carbon freeze (or something similar). He could have just killed him off but there was no guarantee that Luke would turn to the dark side. So, until he knew if Luke would turn bad, he thought that keeping Ezra alive, but frozen, would be best for now.

Of course, Vader does not get his answer until he dies on the Death Star. This leaves Ezra on Morriban frozen and alone. Until about 25 years later, he is found and then unfrozen by Han Solo who takes him under his wing. Han tells him about the time that he himself was frozen in carbonite. Ezra will probably use an alias at this point. So, no one will know he is Ezra until episode 8 or 9.

Ezra wonders what happened to Master Darth Vader. So, he takes his trusty old lightsaber that he finds in a Morriban tomb and sets off on a secret mission to find his old master. He finds Vader's helmet on the forest moon of Endor.

These wacky ideas are probably all wrong, but it's fun to speculate.

While I think that would be an interesting plot twist in Ezra's story, the biggest argument against it would be the fact that the story of Rebels is expected to continue for a few years after the release of TFA. I don't think they would spoil a plot twist like Ezra falling to the dark side by including evidence of it in TFA. If Ezra shows up or is mentioned in TFA we won't get much detail about his past that doesn't align with what would have already been shown in season one and possibly the first part of season two. Also, I believe this show will focus more on the Ghost crew standing up against the Empire and the formation of the Rebellion, and I believe this last episode we see Ezra finally overcome his fear and even some of his anger, so the threat of him going to the dark side has lessened.

I also don't think whoever steals the death star plans, whether it be the Ghost crew or someone else, would be on Alderaan when it blows up. That was where Leia was taking the plans, and if the group who stole them was heading there already why wouldn't they just bring them there themselves?

Far and away my favourite episode so far. For me it's still the use of official John Williams music that elevates this above Clone Wars and makes it really feel like Star Wars. Add Frank Oz to the mix and it's gold. Can't wait to see if Lando pops up next time in the Falcon.

Great episode. It was really dark though for a kid's show.

It will be interesting to see if Rebels grows from a kids show to a young adult/adults show in the same way that TCW did. As an adult, I hope it does, but as a parent, I hope it does not. My daughter was definitely scared a little bit by this episode, particularly when when the inquisitor kills Kanan.

Well, just saw it (not doing the advance screenings, so I waited until yesterday). Overall I would say I liked it, and I really liked some of the themes it touched on. One thing I like about this series on a broad scale is the fact that Kanan is both reluctant and himself impatient in regards to teaching, and is by far not your ideal Jedi. The fact he admits this is a nice development.

The pacing of it seemed a tad off. Chalk it up to first season jitters perhaps, but parts of it felt incredibly rushed - as in content thrown at the viewer. Not enough time for things to sink in and really take affect. I'm hopeful though that the second season will have a bit better pacing, utilizing multi-episode arcs more and more. Similar to how TCW tended to have 4-episode arcs later in the series, leading almost to the feeling of movies cut into separate parts.

I know it's unrealistic, but imagine a full episode or two of just Ezra venturing through the 'cave'. It would really give a sense to the trial, and further enhance the implication given with the "waiting masters" inside the temple.

In some ways I suppose it was. I know there's the issue with the 30-minute time slot... to me it felt like this would be better as a two-parter at least.

And in some ways it was rushed in regards to content presented.. Apparently several weeks passed in between the time they exited the temple and the immediate fade-in to when he unveils his lightsaber. Would've been nice to have him working on it for a few episodes (behind closed doors) to show the effort put into it.

They are taking a week off, so I think it doesn't go up till the 12th, with the 19th for tv broadcast.

Doubt he was into the mining at this point in time, to me it seamed like he had recently gotten into it when we met him in ESB, and this season of rebels is probably 8 years before ESB.

I wonder though, who has the Falcon at this point in time.

Well, I do remember there being figures and ships for Rebels including the Millennium Falcon. No Han Solo, but clearly Biilly Dee has been involved for a while. I'm betting he still has it.
