    Lucasfilm learned during the making of the prequels that you can cut out a certain performance that you like from one take and blend it together with another take.

    Maybe they can do something similar in this case and use some of carries unused footage from VII and VIII, change the voice (what she says) & the background......etc.

    Sounds crazy but I think theres a real possibility that this could actually happen.

    Totally agreed. Before seeing R1, my ideal ending was for Leia (in the distance) to be seen from behind putting the plans into R2, and then we hear the original "Help me Obi Wan Kenobi, You're My Only Hope" sound clip.

    It would've been easy to do.

    Problem is, while the white Tantive IV robes are iconic, General Leia's costume isn't quite as much, at least of what we've seen so far (no fault of the ST costumers, it's just hard to beat the original). It also conveniently had a hood.
    I don't know if seeing someone in a vaguely "General Leia"-esque costume would work as well.

    I would not like a recast of Leia for sequels, Carrie is Leia. BUT if they did a stand alone or she needed to appear in PRE-A New Hope era, I would not be against bringing her back with a young actress.

    I don't see them ever re-casting Leia's part in a Star Wars film.

    a good tribute to such a talented writer.. would be to write her out in an interesting way in my opinion.

    It would be kinda nice if Billie Lourd's character (Lt Connix) could get a bit of screen time and a couple of decent lines before the trilogy ends. We would have followed her career regardless.. but probably more so now. good luck to her.

    I know this sound awful but I feel that after a couple of years, Disney might consider a Princess Leia standalone film say 5-10 years from now. Re-casting her with a new actress, because Fisher did say they own her likeness so much so she has to pay them every time she would look in the mirror.

    I would prefer they didn't re-cast Leia however if Lucasfilm believed it was absolutely necessary for the characters story then as strange as I'd find it, I would be okay with it.

    Cherry Jones isn't a bad shout as a re-cast though.
