Recent MSW leaks all in one thread and theories

Thanks for the summary. I really like what I'm hearing from these leaks. I'm pretty excited about the direction Rian is taking this new episode because TFA felt too scaled back and barren. I felt it lacked the richness and vibrancy of previous films in the saga. I'm almost wishing they kept Rian on to direct Ep. 9, too. I think this will be an excellent movie.

I like the sound of this stuff. Sad about Luke + other characters, though, if that's true.

 

I have never cried during a SW film. But this may be the exception to the rule lol

 

You know the rule...

When it'll come out, people will say: "It is the best Star Wars film since Empire Strikes Back"... and rank it second, tied to the original one.

Joke aside...

From what is leaked, we may have the most creative yet scary Star Wars movie yet.

While in Empire Strikes Back, we had 2 plots in parallel that ultimately converged... in The Last Jedi, it seems to be 3 plots in parallel that ultimately converge.

And I am not talking here about the multiplication of action sequences at the end of the movie.

I am talking about 3 stories (Rey meeting Luke on Arch-To and facing Kylo - Poe & the fleet escaping the ferocious clutches of the First Order and Hux - Finn in an infiltration mission against Phasma and Co). The story seems rich and deep... Luke & Rey on the mythical side..the Jedi...the Sith...why Luke is in Exile and Rey's future and origins - Poe and Resistance facing the wrath of the beast while trying to rally the remnants of the Republic - Finn in his mission, betrayal...etc.

I think we'll have hell of a ride in December.

 

I ill be be dissapointed if he doesn't reunite with any of the other characters.

 

I think Luke and Leia reunion was always meant to be in Episode 9, and it is too bad Carrie passed away before the filming of the episode.
From what we learn from the plot, Luke and Leia seem to have separate but important missions in The Last Jedi, galaxies apart.
If MSW's report is right, Finn is probably the one that ends up captive by the end of the episode and pulls out Rey & Luke to the rescue, while Leia is with Poe and the Resistance on Crait, waiting for Deus Ex Machina to help them save what is left of the Resistance.

 

Do y'all think it's possible that Leia is now de facto Chancellor of the New Republic? I think the politics were so simplified in TFA, almost bordering on parody. The First Order blew up the capital... that doesn't mean "the Republic" is dead. A country would still exist if the capital was (God forbid) destroyed., no?

Leia's outfit seems more stately than her TFA clothing...


I know they said she also wears a "brown Resistance dress" but honestly that could just mean it looks like what Padme wore in ROTS.

 

I think it sounds like its going to be a good movie, although Im not sure how I feel about the birds yet. Just have to wait and see.

 

What about the birds is not you're cup of tea? I think they sound pretty cool, at least to me

 

I'm liking the sound of things. While there always will be some similarities between SW movies, this movie does sound different. It will be interesting to get some visuals from the trailer later this week. Based on some of MSW descriptions it seems like this will be a very visually interesting movie. It also sounds like we are going to continue to get back to mysticism of the Force and I think that is cool. I am intrigued by Luke explaining to Rey how she is connected to the Force. I think it is going to be more than just (fill in the blank) is/was your Dad/Mom. I think this leans away fro Rey being a Skywalker. Where Rey is headed in this trilogy may be more important than where she comes from. Daisy even had a quote about that before where she said (I'm paraphrasing) that Rey's future is more important than her past.

 

Are you kidding about Leia wearing that? It's a robe to hide her real clothing and Padme never actually wore that in ROTS from what I remember of the movie

She does, in the silent staring-outside-the-window-Arabic-woman-wailing-in-the-background scene, just with the hood down.

And re: Leia, really? It looks more ornate than the gown she wore at the end of TFA.

 

I didn't get an ewok vibe, but scars last a lifetime I guess lol

 

She's still wearing the prominent "mother ring" with two birthstones, the one that Pablo has yet to comment on to this day, I see...
