Hey everyone! I had the honour of providing catering services for the cast + crew of Episode VIII on Monday, and I have to say that the experience was surreal. We're going back in a few weeks to provide more services, and we've all signed NDAs. We were around cast members in costume who were eating, which is mostly why we had to sign. However, I was able to see one scene being shot from afar (I wasn't supposed to be able to see it, but I did), and it was fantastic.

Daisy Ridley is brilliant. After this scene, I was blown away. The scene is (from what I heard), the very last shot of the movie. It seems like the set is the interior of one of those huts from Luke's island at the end of VII, except bigger. There was a fireplace and a bunch of old books and food scattered around. They had a crazy apparatus with strings attached to virtually every item in the room. Well, not really a room, a cutout of the room, you could see the entire set piece from behind, but the camera angle made it seem like the interior of a tiny hut. Daisy was off in a corner sitting quietly before someone called her over, and I could see that she seemed pretty emotionally shaken up before they started rolling. Her costume was the same as at the end of VII, but with her hair messed up, dirt all over her body, and gashes (lightsaber gashes?) all over too. Her acting blew me away. When the cameras rolled, she had such intensity, it was a mixture of extreme sadness and rage, and as she was performing, the apparatus they set up moved the strings around, making it look like all the objects in the room were floating on their own. It was a crazy practical effect. She let out a piercing shriek, and all the objects slammed down on the floor, and she curled up into a ball on the floor crying. She then, after a moment, lifted her head up, stopped crying, and just glared straight into the camera. The scene was perfect. She nailed it on the first take. The lady deserves an Oscar. I hope she gets one.

 

Huh... here I was expecting another ridiculous "leak", but this actually doesn't sound so bad. I do wonder how the leaker managed to observe the scene in such detail from afar, so I'll remain somewhat skeptical. Fake or not, though, it's a good scene.

 

Yes. The Light/Dark Anakin's ghost flowing back and forth from Darth Vader to Anakin in "The Art of The Force Awakens" book...

Sounds suspiciously like a scene to one of RJ's other films (Looper I believe), so big grain of salt there. Also the ending of ROTS as well (with Sheev telling Vader that Padme was dead/him freaking out).

And while I don't doubt that Daisy could pull it off, I have my doubts (especially her ending the movie on that island).

 

Sounds like another instance of someone emotionally unhinged and wildly wielding the force. I remember hearing something like that about Luke for TFA that never materialized. Fake or not, I'd really like to see something like that. It demonstrates the power of the force and the line the light side walks to keep it from just crushing everything. I think it would be incredible.

 

I read it and I gotta say if we do see something like that I will be happy cause I love seeing stuff like that where it shows the character unstable and doing crazy s*** with the force. If we do I will be so glad to see how rey loses control of everything and goes all out. I like watching someone lose it - see what makes them tick. Can't wait to see daisy's dark side. Mmm.

 

Sounds fake. Not because the scene doesn't seem to be like something we could see in the movie but because the story and description of the scene sounds totally made up, and the scene they're describing sounds like it's just Rey moving some objects around with the force during her training. Oscar worthy performance for moving some rocks and crap around and acting really intense. lolz.

 

It's a faaaaaaake.

 

Fake or not...the scene could be more than we can imagine.

I only trust things that come from the unionized lighting technicians to obscure Youtube channels when I'm really drunk.

 

Not only the Looper example, but we already got something like that in ROTS (when Sheev tells Vader that Padme died and Vader flips out).

 

I wanna see something that is way more effective than... "NOOOOOOOOOO!" lols. That line could have been omitted when we could have seen Vader's full blown rage in action than a single word. the execution of the word nooo was meh. What if there were a few imperial operatives in the room and he like force choked them before he walks away and Palpatine smiles, knowing that his plan worked in the seduction of Skywalker. So if a scene like that happens in VIII with Rey being unstable...it could have potential to being a very pivotal moment for her and for the story too.

 

Yup, we've all got to give Jason his due, but I've got to agree with you. I think the studio will be trying to go all out to stop his particular site from getting hold of large chunks of the story details again.

It's going to be really interesting to see if he can do it again.....

Whoa! That clip from Looper IS far out <<makes mental note to watch Looper at some point in near future>>. Can anyone recommend any other of his movies to watch? I Just had a look on his bio page on IMDB and didn't recognise much. Is there anything he's made that's going to be required viewing for us SW fans?

 

La de la de da I'm catering for EP VIII everyone is allowed to eat but poor Daisy Ridley who is giving an Oscar performance. So I'm staring from a afar and can tell every detail without binoculars and security not watching me while the other actors are eating and not paying attention. I'm the luckiest caterer in the whole galaxy lol

 

I can see the seen now, Luke tackles Kylo Ren out of a hut, saying, "my baby girl is upset", while Rey falls down hut steps, gets pissed, and rips Phasma to pieces.
