I know this movie is a little ways off, but it doesn't hurt to speculate it can be fun as well. Who do any of you think should direct the film? I'm of the mind that Brad Bird will eventually land a Star Wars film at some point so I'm throwing his hat into the ring. My other choices would be Duncan Jones, Edgar Wright, Joe Johnston (think Rocketeer), and finally Matthew Vaugn. Vaugn already mentioned wanting to direct Star Wars some time back so it was a no brainer. He certainly has the flair for it as well. Duncan is my certainly my dark horse pick. The rest already have ties to either Star Wars in general or JJ himself. Good choices? Bad? Have other names to add to the list? I'm actually under the impression that after this initial wave of films that Disney will create a bunch more anthology films placed throughout the Star Wars timeline which is exciting to me. In that sense a lot of directors might get to have their personal touch on Star Wars.

Well, all of them are good directors. I'd like to see them directing a Star Wars movie.

Please no Brad Bird. He's not a bad director, I just don't think his style fits, Anthology flick or not. I'd love to see Duncan Jones, he'd make a very cerebral film; Edgar Wright would be awesome but who knows how he'd feel about working in a franchise after his bout with Marvel. Joe Johnston would probably make a decent movie, nothing too special but nothing too great either. I can't judge MM yet other than her work on GoT and Breaking Bad; she did fine work in television, but we'll have to see how she does in film. And Vaughn seems pretty busy as of late, so I doubt he'd have the time, though I wouldn't complain if he did.

I think it'd be really cool to see David Fincher come full circle and actually make a SW film after passing on RotJ back in the day :p. Paul Thomas Anderson would be my dream pick though, holly hell would he get a great performance out of anyone in the GFFA,

Jon Favreau just tweeted that he's not going to do an Episode movie. The wording on that suggests that he might be up for doing an Anthology.

I think Michelle MacLaren would be interesting if she really is up to it. I'd absolutely love to see Joe Johnston get involved, though.
