i don't like ads. they're rough and course and irritating, and they get everywhere!

 

no no no!, that's sand... San Francisco is a must see place!

but remember.. don't be late to Golden Gate!

 

i love the ad.. and it's part of my day now.

the downside for me is that if i stay on a thread page for long enough.. the page dies and i have to kill it. this started yesterday as well.
if others are experiencing that, then that's not a good thing.

i'd say keep it (it's advertising for you guys)... but can it be checked/fixed so that it doesn't cause instability?

 

windows 10 & Chrome.
i'll try Edge and Firefox on the same laptop later to see if same thing happens and let you know.

i think @FN-3263827 was getting crashes also before she turned on ad-blocking.. i'm sure she'll jump in and confirm.. or call me something appropriate

 

@Viral Hide: i have an old computer at home and a slow computer at work. it crashes my home computer and bogs down my work one. i had to ad-block it to keep things running. the crashing on my home computer is true of the .gifs threads and the twitter stuff too for whatever reason, but that's a fault of my ancient OS.

if the ad thing is an issue of revenue, maybe the Cantina could have a fundraising campaign so that it can remain ad-free (crashing or no).

just to update you (I can see that the ad has been adjusted as it seems to sit in the site's footer now)..

i'm using Microsoft Edge for the Cantina now as it seems to be lovely and stable
I tried using Chrome for an hour this morning, and the site was hanging constantly.. to the point of being unusable. Whether I was sitting in a forum page or a page in the members section.. the page hung after a minute or so and I had no option but to kill the page.

if it's only a handful of us, then it's not much of an issue I guess. i'm happy using Edge, so it's not bothering me anymore.

 

I reported it on the 19th.. I don't think I had seen it before then.

I don't have another windows 10 machine I can test with. but I'll have a go with my win7 desktop at home tonight with Chrome on this site and see what occurs.

I also access the site with iPhone 6, an old ipad2 and an android phone.... site runs lovely on those.

completely accept that it could be Chrome settings or something local to me, but I use Chrome for everything on my laptop and I don't have problems with any other site.

 

I'll have a play in Chrome and let ya know!

 

On chrome it's working fine for me, no slow delays anymore. I hope yours is ok @Maximus

When I click on long running threads, The posts are all jumbled. The first page should have the oldest(original) posts and the highest numbered page should have the most recent post. But I am seeing them in jumbled chronological order.
Examples:
"DC Extended Universe"
"Music Recommendations/What are you listening to"
(Using Chrome on Windows 10)

 

odd.. i'm using the same browser/OS and those threads drop in correct order for me.
the music recommendations thread.. 1st post on page 1 is sept 2014, and runs in order nicely till the last page (at a glance anyhoo.. im not reading the whole thread )

if you're seeing that.. there must be reason though.

 

Nevermind - I like to be an idiot from time to time. I was looking at the "Joined:" dates, not the post dates. I think I'll go back to bed now.
