Couldn’t they have merged together cassian and obi wan? It’s the same time period, isn’t it?

    Rey Kenobi FTW! ;)

That was a great theory while it lasted. I'll still be up for live-action Obi-Wan and Satine stuff.

An Obi-wan Kenobi miniseries (or even full-blown multi-series show) could be quite good indeed. From a writing perspective, a multi-episode, 3-8+ hours TV show offers much more freedom than a 2 hour movie, allowing the creators to explore concepts and stories at a deeper level while also focusing on (possibly several) minor arcs & character points that a movie wouldn't have time for. In addition, various episodes of a TV show may approach the subject matter differently, exploring things for several angles in ways a movie can't. (For example, it would be very cool if the Kenobi show spent an episode or two back in PT times, with young Kenobi on adventures that informs the show's "now" of later episodes).

As for a main villain for the show, that could be anything. Even a crime organization could work here, although I believe a lightsaber wielding bad guy is the most likely (because, reasons; Kenobi needs to Kenobi).

Finally, I wonder if all these various shows will end up informing/crossing over to one-another?

By the way, who's going to SW Celebrations this year? It's gonna be absolutely mad! :D (I wish I could be there...)

Just trying to piece this all together.. they say they need to "rethink their approach" after Solo while also Iger admitted he screwed up the timing and marketing of Solo's release. They pushed it forward too fast and too close to TLJ without adequately marketing it so that it wouldn't conflict with their Winter films of Mary Poppins, Ralph Breaks the Internet and the Nutcracker, all of which performed worse than Solo despite receiving adequate marketing. Great call Bob!

We can only hope they now realize that Star Wars and December releases go together like Peanut Butter & Jelly and to keep the movies spread apart. They can leave the theatrical releases to any trilogies they want to make like the RJ and B&W ones and have those be the once-a-year releases. If they do that then we're set up for a 6 year period of once-a-year movie releases in the near future between those two trilogies. But it is clear that the Star Wars franchise has larger ambitions to get more content out than one movie per year and that is where the streaming content comes in. It makes Disney+ a MUST-HAVE for any Star Wars fans.

With respect to Obi-Wan, I'm all for it. 6 one-hour episodes would be mean more Ewan McGregor as Obi-Wan than a 2 hour movie, and the more the better! For those who wonder what the story will be about, remember that there is a pretty infamous gangster on Tatooine who could make things interesting. Also, you know there will be encounters with the Sandpeople. A'Yark is now canon thanks to From a Certain Point of View. I'm not saying the whole series should centered around the Tuskens like in the Kenobi novel but they should definitely have a role.

It is my opinion and has been all along about an Obi-Wan movie that Obi-Wan is in exile watching over Luke and only in the most dire circumstance would he leave Tatooine. He cant risk the Empire finding out that he is alive and alerting Vader and the Emperor. So that means the story crafting has to be very tight so that any stories must stay on Tatooine or something incredibly serious would be needed to get him to leave. No simple little adventures off planet. It has to be super serious.

I love Obi Wan but I am really ready to start seeing brand new things. I have had 6 movies and a fantastic TV series where Obi Wan was a key player. I want them to take all that Disney money and do something that I have never seen in the Star Wars universe.

I think it is indeed true that Obi-Wan would only leave Tatooine in the most dire circumstance. There are some story lines that could see that happen though. We all know that Snoke lived through the prequel trilogy. Why not have Obi-Wan investigate this "menace". Maybe Snoke does something terrible that makes a tremor go through the force (like with Alderaan). It could be quite thrilling to see Obi-Wan go out to investigate and might even run into Palpetine, who is investigating this too as a possible threath to his rule.

In one of the legacy books by the way, I remember Qui-Gon telling Obi-Wan to leave the planet for a while, also because of a threath, and Qui-Gon telling him that he will warn him of something would happen to Luke in the meantime.. Would be a nice cameo for Liam Neeson.

Specifically, I think this would happen if Obi-Wan thought it was necessary save Luke.

I'm hoping that at some point, somebody else figures out that Luke is Vader's kid. And Obi-Wan maybe even has to chase them down to stop the information from getting out. Could be an interesting moral dilemma, too, whether to follow the Jedi path and refuse to kill, or let a villain escape and potentially put Luke's life in jeopardy.

I agree. But in all honesty I think we know less than we think we know about his time on Tatooine.
There's a lot to be explored.... he faced the failure of whatever he believed him, the Jedi, the Republic, the relationships with people he loved
There's a lot to be told, beside his role as Luke's guardina... But I've nerver thought about possible flash back in the PT era. Amazing too.
    I'd love a 3/4 episodes serie.
