Ok... once again (as I LOOOOOOVE to introduce my threads), let's do a retrospective:

    The Phantom Menace:

Evil is pretty IN YOUR FACE revealed early in the movie:

Darth Sidious & Darth Maul are not hidden to the audience... the only "secrecy" kept from the audience is the fact that Palpatine was Sidious (and that was not THAT subtile). So... we KNOW who are the bad guys from the start.

    Attack of the Clones:

Again, Dooku is established as the villain early on, and we know Sidious is still around... no surprise.

    Revenge of the Sith:

Grievous is pretty IN YOUR FACE from the start, we know Anakin is falling... Palpatine is revealed as Sidious (Wawa WHaaaaaat?) So, once again, we pretty know who are the baddies from the start, no secret.

    A New Hope:

Vader is established as the UBER baddie in the very first scenes from the movie. No surprise.

    Empire Strikes Back:

We all know and love Vader... and we discover the Emperor, NO SURPRISE.

    Return of the Jedi:

.... Do I have to mention that Vader and The Emperor are two established villains at that point.

OK...ok.... where do I go with that?

Well... do you see a pattern here: there has never been a Scooby Doo moment in the Star Wars franchise. The villain is normally established rapidly and spends the rest of the movie chasing our heroes.

Will it follow the same pattern in TFA?

    I see 4 possibilities:

    A) The villain is quickly established (Like all 6 previous SW movies)

    B) The villain is hidden and we discover him later in the movie

    C) The villain is not who we thought to be... TWIST (A mix of A and B)

    D) Is NEVER revealed?!?!

What do you think, vote! And Comment!

Based upon some of the speculation that's out there, and in accordance to Star Wars tradition, I believe the movie will start with the villain.

Well... to be fair... the movie is about SOMETHING... and (speaking from a literary angle) SOMETHING has to happen to propel THIS instance... even if it is revealed that the main baddie has been around for years, SOMETHING happens which sets THIS set of events in action

I think the revealing the evil side will happen halfway through the movies, if at the beginning it really would focus the audience on when the character is going to slip up & a pursuit of revenge begins.

    A mix between A and B ;) but voted A.
The Villain or Henchman will be revealed early or halfway through the movie.

I agree with the baddies making a early introduction.

Yes that makes the most sense.
In both JJ Star Trek movies, the Villain was early introduced, Nero in the oppening scene and in into darkness it was Harris/Khan early on and Admiral Marcus halfway/end.

Yes indeed I was almost fooled at the start when Harrison/Khan claimed to be controlled by Marcus then became psychotic when set free, I hope the henchman in TFA might make a obvious enterance of intimidation before the first kill set them off.

Both the Empire and one or more comander will present themselves like an inquisitor. But the reveal that there is a rift in the Alliance complete with a sith pilot Kylo Ren won't happen till later.

Going with my gut, and some of the rumor floating about, I'm assuming we'll get to know the bad guy early on. I also feel like a larger bad guy will be revealed later on, like the Emperor in ESB.

Just to riff off of the rumors and what Serkis said about only being in the finale...

I expect that we will not see Luke until late in the film and he will taunted from the other side of a crypt door with the dialog from the trailer. I kind of expect there to be numerous bad guys because you would have to include the Empire in with any dark side users. The imperial forces are probably the ones who would have the spaceships to inspire the "lead villian" Lego sets .

Maybe the moral dilemma will be that the Rebellion joins forces with the Empire to defeat the dark side of the force?

I think Luke's entrance will be at the start during the battle scene I don't think he would trust the rebel to carry the mission on their own, off course apart from family.

Funny story... when I was a lowly airman, just at my first duty post, we had a staff meeting. The First Sgt said, "we're gonna have to go with my gut on this one"

Very quietly, I asked if that meant we needed to loop over his belt

Potentially not the best career move I ever made

Does this mean go over his head? Or did he gain some weight and needed to "kick it up a notch"?
