Alright, yesterday by mere happenstance I found the following piece of fanfiction:

    "Children of the Future"

    https://www.fanfiction.net/s/6573474/1/Children-of-the-Future

The Solo children must be hidden again for their own safety, but they get sent to the only two people who can truly protect them: Han and Leia... before they were married.

I know. After reading this short description I was not that enthusiastic about reading it (aside from the fact it was 20 chapters long!) I thought I could be finishing either reading "Tarkin" or "Aftermath" instead of procrastinating on both books. (Or finishing my own fanfics I have been working on lol).

But as a true Han and Leia fan, and even when by the mention of "Children" I supposed it was a story based on the Legends characters - Jacen, Jaina and Anakin Solo - the curiosity won on this case and I am glad to say I was pleasantly surprised.

I won't spoil the read for you, basically the first chapter goes over the background on why they have to be sent away for their safety - as we know from the Legends material, starting with the Thrawn Trilogy, the children of Han and Leia have been always on constant risk due to their Force-sensitivity - and "Uncle Luke" pulls a Kenobi finding out a way they stay under the watch of their parents... from a certain point of view!

Obviously, the main reasoning behind time traveling used in another material as "Back to the Future" is mentioned; however, the Force will always intervene to make sure significant events remain the same, one way or another. Although a big difference from McFly's case, the kids won't pretend to be someone else, so one can imagine all the interesting situations that would arise for the younger Han and Leia when they get that piece of knowledge.

Although it is a piece of fan-fiction, I really enjoyed the way the author develops the kids characters, and their interactions with their parents. As I have mentioned before, I am not 100% familiar with the Legends books - just the main storylines and the main details - but even when you know what's in store in the Legends for the Solo children in the future (as I said, Star Wars is just a big tragedy) these kids grow on you. And as a big Han and Leia fan, you appreciate having a story talking about their times as a normal family. And the storyline is full of comic situations and your normal bantering between the Princess and the Scoundrel.

The story is quite endearing, and at one point I could not help but figure out the faces of the kids as a younger Adam Driver for Jacen and Daisy Ridley as Jaina - I know, I know, we don't know who is she yet, but I couldn't help it lol. Anakin was trickier to picture, since it would be a mix of Han and Leia with blue eyes, but somehow I pictured a young Asa Butterfield around the time he made "The Boy in the Striped Pajamas".

Really recommend this one, especially for the Cantina friends who are as well Han and Leia fans like me!

May the Force be with you always!

Not big on the EU stories of Princess Leia getting kidnapped/kids are threatened to be kidnapped storylines, but this is hilarious and cute for light reading. :)

Same here, I found that a little bit tedious - the constant risk of kidnapping and such - but this story was quite enjoyable. The kids had won me over and I could not help but thinking: had we the chance to go back time, would I want the Legends (old EU) to be still canon? Can't answer that question, since I think of Ben/Kylo Ren and though at first I utterly despised the guy, he has grown on me too. Anyhow we can enjoy this kind of readings.

i'm about halfway through ~ will have to finish later, but this is amusing (and yes, there are some Han/Leia moments that feel spot on ~ ha!)

i don't have much experience with fan fiction and i was never interested in the old EU (though i kinda know what it was about), so that makes it a little hard to connect.
i am definitely invested in the current continuity and keep asking myself: what if this had been Ben sent back to Han and Leia and he was head-strong FS and already pissed off at them ~ that'd be a whole different ballpark ~ hahaha

I am still reading off and on, and wonder why Luke hasn't shown up in the past at all, thus far. Is he on a mission missing all the weirdness? Mon Mothma is so critical LOL.

Yeah, actually that is one of the things I liked from the new canon - the change in Mon Mothma attitude regarding Han and Leia. In most of the fanfics and EU books, it seems Mon Mothma was more into Leia marrying someone for political reasons due to her royal status. In the new canon -. at least in "Moving Target" she is quite nice and understanding towards Leia and her love for Han.

Read it through and I liked how they handled Luke. Not knowing that DV was dad yet and Leia was sis, and the kids had to keep mum about it was fun. His whole take on it was how he probably would have taken it at that point as well. Fun read. A lot of those types of things make me cringe when I feel they go off character, but it seemed to be more true to the characters, and there were not many cringe worthy moments. Nice to include how Chewie must feel and the interaction with him. Chewie is a character that I always thought got the brush off when he is quite important, just because he isn't human or doesn't speak basic I guess. You can tell the writer really loved and knew the characters well.

I know! Especially since it was right before the start of TESB, so we see Han and Leia are not in a relationship yet, but with clearly stuff going on, feelings between them but not expressed; and Luke, based on his reaction to that *creepy* kiss at the medcenter he is still sort of feeling something towards the Princess, though he does not know she's his sister yet!

I liked how they included Chewie as well, having his feedback in all this situation. And in the end I felt like young Leia lol, and I liked how the author developed her character.

that was the funnest thing about this: knowing everything we know and yet they're still ten paces behind and just the confusion between Han and Leia about how is all this supposed to work out (ha!).

and any time Chewie gets treated to his rightful place among the heroes it's always a joy! i love that moment when Chewis says "go be with our family" and Han replies "you are my family" ~ awww.

also: "Sex at least three times a week?" hahahaha ~ i loved that whole ending exchange between Han & Leia.

Haahhaha I know, it was so much fun how at first they were sort of reluctant but they were getting into it.

I just wanted to give Chewie a big hug. And the kids were endearing.

I know! I liked how that encounter sort of fits the attitude of Han towards Leia at the beginning of ESB - sort of like cocky and aware of her feelings, that she had a feeling for him.
