Once Lucas decided to the tie the Prequels to the Originals, then this was going to happen. It's no different then fans talking about how much they hate a Series Finale for a TV show they love. I was just recently talking about The Sopranos ending with someone here and how much I still hate it 10 years later, despite loving the whole series. They are linked so you are going to get my opinions of loving The Sopranos and also my opinion on hating the ending.

The same thing goes for the Prequels as they will be linked to the OT forever, as Lucas even changed around the OT to fit the PT, not the other way around. It really wasn't a Prequel Trilogy according to Lucas, because he says they are meant to be watched 1-6. That is why Rogue One will not get this amount of talk on the internet 10 years from now because it is essentially a Standalone movie that you can take or leave it.

Nope I don't. At this point, most have a more reasonable view of them, even if they think they are terrible overall. Most folks are at least willing to acknowledge the positive aspects of the films. I still have a lot of criticisms of the Prequels, however I have a much easier time acknowledging the good things Lucas accomplished with the movies. They will always fail me in most respects as far as developing an emotional connection to Anakin in particular(although TCW helps greatly in that respect). One thing they did wonderfully though was to greatly expand the Star Wars universe. We got to see all kinds of amazing planets, aliens, technology, etc. Additionally, with The Clone Wars, we only saw further how much potential there is in telling stories in the Prequel era.

Here's the thing though, being able to more clearly articulate why I dislike the Prequels is what allowed me to get to the point where I could also appreciate the things they did well. I will probably always find them unsatisfying as whole films(although I still occasionally watch them hoping that impression will change), but at least I can make peace with them as part of the complete Star Wars saga and draw out the bits that are worth while.

The fact that I still dislike them years later isn't proof that me or any other fan that feels that way is just being negative or that we hate the PT more than we love the OT. We are just being honest and we still enjoy talking about a franchise that we love, both the negatives and the positives.

It's true that there are some rabid Prequel haters out there, the "George Lucas raped my childhood" types, however the vast majority of the forum users here don't fall into that camp. Trying to paint them as such comes off as a disingenuous attempt to silence their criticisms of the PT.
