Rewrite the prequels to match TCW

No. Considering that TCW resurrected Darth Maul, when it wasn't really necessary . . . no.

By the way, isn't this the third or fourth thread about re-writing the prequel movies? Frankly, the topic seemed to be in danger of becoming redundant, if it hasn't already. Why not talk about re-writing the original movies? At least it would a new topic.

 

Because people are mostly content with those films as is (and with how they were before the Special Editions).

 

A lot of people are content with the Prequel Trilogy as well. However, certain fans simply refuse to acknowledge this. Which makes this thread irrelevant to me, if no one is willing to re-write the Original Trilogy.

 

Well what differed originally, exactly?

 

No use re-writing anything.

But it would be cool to see the more significant events in Anakin's story - a.k.a. Ahsoka's excommunication - be cut into a full episode. If personal head canon exists - which is useless because the history of the GFFA is still the history as depicted in the PT, but if I could have my own PT, Ahsoka's rebellion and escape would be its own Episode II, with the preceding episode being AOTC (Episode I in this head canon).

That way, Anakin's already in a darker place at the outset of the Battle of Coruscant, and more willing to question the Jedi's complacency and weakness - if he couldn't save his own apprentice from ruin, then how is he going to save Padme, and its clear the Jedi won't be much help.

But that's just my interpretation of the events of season 5 and their effect on Anakin. Just interesting to see the potential as a major motion picture and a full Episode of his saga.

 

I'm not interested in "Attack of Clones" being solely about Ahsoka Whateverhername is. The movies are basically about the Skywalker family . . . so far. None of us cannot help that Anakin Skywalker did not turn out to be the one-dimensional character that so many wanted him to be.

Send a petition to Disney to request a new set of films about Ahsoka, if you want her to be a main character in a story that badly.

Considering all of this stuff from "The Clone Wars" was done "after" the release of "Revenge of the Sith", I do not see the point. But if so many fans insist upon this, why not re-write the Original Trilogy movies to include material from some of the EU novels from that particular time period, as well.

Anakin would still be the main character (although he was barely the main character at all in the 3 films) in the Ahsoka Episode - it would add another layer to Anakin's distance from the Jedi Order as well as another example of a person he loses. First his mother, then his apprentice. There's no way in hell he's losing another person in his life by the time Ep. III. The Jedi be damned.

 

The only benefit would be to fill plot holes created by TCW. I would like some closure to where Ahsoka went/has been, but we're getting some of that with Rebels and hopefully the new Ahsoka book coming out. I wouldn't rewrite anything.

its funny that Theres regularly talk of the originality of the prequels, how though it failed in some areas it tried at least to be original, then I remember this.

Its like poetry they ("they" meaning the original New Hope movie and the Phantom Menace) rhythm, every stanza rhymes with the last one.

Georges original intent was to do what the force awakens did, he just failed to achieve it.

 

One of the things I would do is simply add some dialogue making a reference of Ahsoka as it really makes no sense on why the council wouldn't make Anakin a master when he already had a padawan. Since when aren't you a master after you take on an apprentice? It always seemed that once you graduated into a Knight, the moment you took on an apprentice was the moment that you became a master. Is their some sort of Jedi graduation ceremony where you are given the rank after you finish training a padawan completely?

If I could add to the Prequels, I would at least make it seem that the reason that Anakin wasn't given the rank was because he couldn't complete Ahsoka's training. This would still suck a bit because it was the Council's fault that she left in the first place but still it would be better than leaving it un-adressed and at the same time it would give Anakin a more justified reason on why he was willing to betray the council.

Another thing I would do is give Obi Wan some time to learn some lessons from Yoda. This would justify why Ben told Luke to go learn from the Jedi master that had trained him. I would have also left the Anakin vs Greedo scene in the movie as this would have shown us that even as a little kid Anakin had issues and not show us a little boy who was just an incredible angel just to turn into a selfish dweeb when next we see him.

 

Can we just unwrite the PT and CW and leave it to the imagination like we had before? Both PT and CW are just mere details and backstory. Neither are essential viewing to understand the OT anyway.
