SPECULATION Rey, and Sidious identical fight moves...Hmm

I knew this was going to be addressed sooner or later. This is old news. Imo this would be nice touch, like they had always had the plan to bring back Palpatine.

 

Out of thousands of moves anyone could be identical.

 

We simply do not know how much detail/"story" goes into certain move sets. For all we know it could a surve a purpose or it's just there to look cool...

 

Said it way back when: my close friend and I saw TFA opening night. He owns and operates a Koryu Dojo that specializes in Takamura Ha Shindo Yoshin Ryu. He noted this immediately and we discussed it all night.

He is also a savage at forging traditional weapons. If anyone is ever interested in what he has, pm me and I can give a link to his stuff.

 

So is your friend saying that it served a story purpose? That move?

 

True, just as I wrote in my post you quoted, we don't know.

 

We both found it to serve the purpose that the particular moves she was using were very much in line with basic and aggressive attack techniques. Worked for someone without formal training and was pushing the issue on the other party. If you wanted to off someone quickly, this is how you would do it. We both found it interesting that Sidious was the only other one that kept the moves very simple and effective in this manner. We never attempted to connect this in any lineage sort of way.

My friend has shown these exact moves to all three of my kids and they kick my ass 3 on 1 every time now. There is just too much direct attack moves coming all at once to stop them all. It is very effective. A constant combo of an overhead cut paired with chirugi center thrust is pretty nasty to have to defend. Rey and Sidious both seem to us this combo continuously and effectively. It is aggresively offensive with little regard to defense, but it also puts your opponents immediately on their heals and can quickly off them when successful.

Sidious should have and did use this when he quickly got Mace Windu 1-1 by offing Kit Fisto and the other two. With Rey, this is a great way to attack a longsword, which Kylo's style seems to fit at times.
